We continue the theme of successful actors who became successful directors. We can talk about this phenomenon for a long time and hard, but today we should focus on another representative of this “status”. The German Til Schweiger sat in the director's chair perfectly. Behind his shoulders, at the moment, as many as 11 full-length projects, 10 scripts, 21 times he was a producer and even three times an editor, which can be said with confidence about one thing – the audience is satisfied, and the producers trust. The Guardian Angel is Schweiger’s eighth directorial (and seventh script) film, released back in 2012, but if almost all of Thiel’s work was more comedic in nature, then this one looks more harsh and darker.
A young orphan girl named Nina finds herself in a very uncomfortable situation: her friend is almost killed with her, and the killer is none other than Thomas Becker, a gun dealer who is known all over the world. Becker claims that it was self-defense, nothing more, but when he is told about an uninvited guest - a witness claiming otherwise, the killer gives the command to find and eliminate the witness. At the same time, Nina is under witness protection. She is watched by experienced fighters, including battle-hardened special forces officer Max. However, after the armed mercenaries find “safe haven”, one thing becomes clear – someone turned them in. Miraculously surviving, Nina and Max begin to look for a new shelter.
Nothing is impossible for Thiel Schweiger – his debut took place in 1998 (the film “White Bear”), so to make a good film for him is only a matter of time. “The Guardian Angel” turned out to be a very high-quality, well-coordinated action movie, where Thiel again showed himself only from the good side. Without forgetting about the drama, he cleverly adds a few jokes and a sea of adrenaline to the screen in the form of endless shootouts shot in very detail, in slow-motion mode. Try to make this unusual film screenwriters Thiel Schweiger, Paul Maurice and Stephen Butchard. The script, although it is very similar to Luc Besson's "Leon" or Maciej Schlesicki's "Guardian for the Daughter", but the Germans put their accent here, and it's not just other names, but a different situation. The writers show how the world is not perfect, how it is corrupt and unfair, where even the truth can be bought for pennies. A big plus is that the trio pays attention to detail - Max is constantly recharged (yes, he will not run half the movie with one clip), and that he knows how to feel not only love, but also pain. Throughout the film, Thiel Schweiger’s character is injured as much as you sometimes don’t see in five action movies. But the script is not without sins – the ending is simply taken from a bush called “template”, and one can only guess, ask the question “how?” (If you want to see it, you should look at it and see it.) The characters are good, spelled out clearly, qualitatively, as well as the entire development of the plot, filled with both drama and strong action movie. A good scenario where everything is done on conscience. The cameraman Adrian Cranage tried his best, and his merit is not only in choosing the right color scheme (pleasant gloomy shades throughout the film), but also very shot scenes like the same shootouts, fights or chases - everything is done at the highest level, neatly and talented. Good music was written for the project by composer Martin Todsharov. Each composition adapts well to the desired scene (in many scenes, say shootings, they are not necessary, so many compositions are attributed to drama). Surprisingly, in the picture there was a place for the song “Waiting for the end” from the well-known band Linking Park. It was not bad, although you could choose another moment or another song.
In terms of actors, everything is also good and qualitative. This time, Thiel Schweiger came not alone, but with his daughter Luna, who played the role of Nina (she played in four of his father’s works). Maybe she has beauty from her mother, but in acting everything looks like her father - confident, thoughtful play, is not afraid to show the necessary emotions, which in moments of drama is worth its weight in gold. The moon has succeeded, maybe there are shortcomings, but this is just the beginning of her career. Of the surprises, there is Moritz Bleibtra, with whom Thiel has already played in the cult “Knocking to Heaven”, Carolina Schuch and Rainer Bock showed themselves well, and Heiner Lauterbach managed to perfectly perform the role of a charismatic villain, although he is not a frequent guest in the frame. Good cast and appropriate play!

A great action movie with a drama inside, a decent, high-quality script, confident camera work, music adapted for every moment and excellent acting. The star of Schweiger shines, he is a workaholic, he is good and for any of his projects I want to say a huge thank you. You can recommend the picture to those who will not compare it with “Leon” or “Guardian for the daughter”, and even more so say that it is their plagiarism. Fans of militants, Tiel Schweiger, just a movie to watch the tape can watch, you certainly will not lose anything and enjoy a good movie.

Therefore, Besson is a very important person for the whole of Europe. Thiel Schweiger himself makes films, writes or finishes or adjusts scripts, produces himself and plays in his paintings. But even this is not the main thing, this is not a cult of the German personality, and the main thing is that even American film studios trust him with their blood, because Thiel Schweiger is able to make a film without losing his individual handwriting, but at the level of good Hollywood tapes and the film “Guardian Angel” of 2012 is one of these. It’s an action thriller where Thiel Schweiger acts as the only defender of one girl who saw what she absolutely should not have seen and been where she should not have been.
He watched the hero of Thiel Schweiger (from the film his name is Max Fisher) at this poor girl, remembered that he was a former soldier with the skills of a professional killer and took her under his care. Well, of course, because the girl, which, by the way, is called in the film Nina, is in real life the daughter of Thiel Schweiger – Luna. But the point, as you understand, is not even that, but that the unfortunate Nina became an unwitting witness to a murder in which a large businessman and his inner circle are involved. And, in theory, for such big people to kill Nina - a matter decided and fleeting, but then announced the so-called "Factor X" named Max Fisher, who will not just give Nina offense. The fight begins, in which Max will not spare himself for the sake of the girl and, driven by the principle of justice, will decide the fate of the criminal tycoon himself, however, a couple of his friends will help him in this, who will risk laying down their heads for Max himself.
And it turned out that Thiel Schweiger film “Guardian Angel” is not at all a bad thriller, it has something to catch your eye, and you watch the characters of the tape with all the feelings that are similar to sincere empathy and the desire for them to all the bad things to pass, and all the villains to be punished and even not according to the rules of the law, because they are also scoundrels – they violate it, so the courts are for nothing, especially with their capital, so dare Max Fisher, protect Nina as you can and not forget about them, those who are also right to live your life. It is in the characterization of the characters that the Guardian Angel looks with almost irrepressible interest, and the atmosphere of flight due to impending danger also acquires special properties for the picture so that the viewer can feel the taste of this very danger. Only that's not all succeeded Thiel Schweiger with scenes of shootings. Sometimes there was a feeling that he drew inspiration from the fabulous action movie Commandos, where Arnold Schwarzenegger smashed enemies in packs and laid down, according to some estimates, a small army. For a realist like Thiel Schweiger, these scenes are not fitting.
As for the actors, as already mentioned, they all coped with their tasks. Til Schweiger himself quite convincingly portrayed the ex-warrior, selfless, cold-blooded professional, who is disgusted with all sorts of atrocities happening around, and when the scumbags-fat-sums decided to kill a very young girl, so they first need to be properly harassed. Luna Schweiger, I admit, has talent too. At first, he decided that the Blat decides everything in pedantic Germany, but Luna played well, showing the drama of his heroine, as well as what a really brave girl she became shoulder to shoulder with Max Fisher. So my father's protégé tried hard in front of his parents. But most of all in the heart and soul of the hero of Moritz Bleibtroy: business man, even though he is deprived of both lower limbs. And you need to see and feel all his inner core, despite the injuries, when the enemies of Max brazenly come to the house of the hero Bleibtroy – frankly, the courage and coolness of this cripple (according to the film!) can only be envied by white envy. Excellent acting!
In general, a worthwhile film of German production from Thiel Schweiger, where, albeit somewhat lame action-fighter, but the drama and depth of the characters of the main characters are brought to a very high level. If only for every big businessman, Max Fisher... Who are these Fishermen?
Although “Guardian Angel” languished in my waiting list for only a few weeks, I managed to forget that with the legendary Thiel Schweiger in this film starred his youngest daughter, who with her appearances in “Beauty” and “Seducator” has already managed to grow noticeably.
Pluses: Perhaps the biggest plus is the debut of Luna Schweiger as the main character. She plays well, but there were scenes where the girl clearly fell short, especially in sad and emotional scenes. That’s forgivable because it’s her first adult role. I also liked the relationship between Max and Nina. It was especially pleasant to watch scenes where the hero of Thiel, introduced himself as the father of the girl, knowing that in real life he is really her father. And even very pleased the presence of Bones Ullmann, albeit in a small role.
Minuses: Minuses are few, but they are quite noticeable. I was most confused by how untouchable the main character is. He only gets hurt twice, just when he needs to. Strongly surprised scenes where the main character is shot by two, Max comes out of hiding killing one of them, but despite the fact that the second bandit still continues to shoot at him, the guardian angel does not overtake any of these bullets. Also, some of the storylines in my opinion were not completed, such as the story with the bracelet or Nina’s feelings for Max. And some of the moments seemed very long. Shooting in a small room could last about 5-10 minutes and sometimes it seemed really long.
In the end, the film turned out well. You can do something under that, otherwise it might seem boring. But in general, if you want to watch an action movie without a huge amount of blood and obvious violence, you can watch, I think you will not regret it.

Well. When you’re going to watch a European movie, you expect to see good acting, a logical plot and unique humor. When you’re going to watch a European movie with Thiel Schweiger, you expect something heartwarming with the addition of machine gun queues. This film spoke for itself: “Look what daughter Thiel Schweiger has, look what a brave warrior he is, in general, look how cool everyone is!”
The beginning of the film seemed promising: a laptop with classified data, some guy with a girl having fun, and suddenly a mysterious man comes and makes a rustle. Ooh! It's a bit of a hit. Then everything develops in the best traditions of spy cinema: the girl in the witness protection program is hidden with a macho man, and the bad guys try to kill her or them, so that we are not bored. To all this, we are introduced to the lady prosecutor, who, it is clear, will prove herself.
Everything would be fine, but playing the script with witness protection is not an easy task. Alas, but Mr. Schweiger did not cope with this task. For the first time, things got bad after a trip in the first stolen car, some strange dialogue, unsuccessful attempts to joke. Then everything is much worse, and a small lump of negativity turned into an avalanche. However, I must pay tribute to the director, all the scenes of the shootouts were performed, in my opinion, extremely beautifully. The work of the operator also played an important role. Shooting from different angles: from the position of attack and defense, very entertaining.
In the middle of the film, it seems that the writer did not know what to write about, because all we see is the questioning of Our Witness about his lawyer from various acquaintances. Why do I need this information?
Another negative impression was added by Frau Schweiger. None of her actions were justified, everything looked like this: she was told - she did, and how she did, we will edit it later, no problem. Oh, yeah, songs... I have no idea why so much oppressive music was used, which was diluted at the beginning and at the end with songs by OneRepublic and Linkin Park, respectively.
In general, if you’re looking for a movie to wash dishes or paint your nails, here’s a two-hour buzz in your ears. For me, this film left a lot of questions, but the search for answers it did not deserve, with all my respect for the work of Thiel Schweiger.

I thought for a long time what caused the failure of this film, which consisted of the same type of scenes with shootings a la Hollywood, a mediocre script, and predictable dialogue.
At first, I wanted to throw a stone in the garden of Thiel Schweiger, still he is here and the director and screenwriter and producer, well, just a reaper, and a reader, and a player on the dood. But after learning that the same thing happened in the film “Barefoot on the pavement”, I threw a stone I took back to myself, apologizing to myself to Thiel. As strong as the film turned out, well, could not this time Thiel so blundered.

The only thing I liked here was the good soundtracks and great shooting, with good scenery, that the guys from Warner Brothers can not occupy.
The debut in the big role of the daughter of Thiel Schweiger can be considered successful despite the mediocre acting, because the image was selected successfully. No matter how she played, it can be attributed to the difficult nature of orphaned girls and unusual situations in which people often behave inadequately.
Humor is not enough, although it still needs to be seen. For example, if you know that Thiel Schweiger talks to his own daughter, then many dialogues look with a fair amount of humor.

3. The film is dedicated to soldiers who are forced to mutilate and die in wars and local conflicts for mistakes and ambitions ' The power of the possessors'. Ideas of the will to life, friendship, responsibility, love for loved ones are built into the plot and in the end the viewer thinks more about them, not about the plot.

The Guardian Angel is a movie that will appeal to any viewer. Thiel Schweiger, who acted as director, producer and main character, knew exactly how much and to what extent to add ingredients to get a masterpiece of cinema. It has a sense of middle ground, measures, which is very important to have when you get to work, which should be seen by a huge number of spectators. If you overdo it with shootings, for example, and do not pay attention to the other component of the film, it will not be interesting at all, but this movie is an action movie, drama, comedy in tandem plus excellent acting, jokes are always appropriate and funny, drama, which gave the picture a special atmosphere and compositions, pleasant ears, carefully selected for any situation. If Thiel himself chose the music for this movie, then we can say without hesitation that he has excellent taste.
The film tells about a teenage girl with a difficult fate who witnessed a murder committed by a very influential person. “With money and power, you can do anything,” thought Thomas Backer, who shot Nina’s friend and tried to eliminate a witness to his crime, but this was not the case, because the girl is under the strict control of Max Fisher, a former special forces officer, and the current employee of the witness protection group. Naturally, shootouts begin, fights not for life, but for death, but everything is so beautifully filmed, under a quiet, simple composition, without a heap of unreal blood, which is breathtaking. In general, the whole film takes place in a calm atmosphere, whether it is action scenes, the scene of the death of best friend and co-worker Max Fisher, the scene of a conversation at the table of the main characters or jokes that often sound – all this feels Thiel’s style, inherent only to him.
Operator’s work at a height: the color palette is juicy, the picture is rich, the scenes dynamically change one another, focusing on individual small but important elements, showing the characters’ faces in close-up, sharply jumping from the gun barrel into the body of the policeman, capturing the entire field of action.
The role came to praise the actors who were chosen perfectly. Thiel’s daughter, Luna Schweiger, seemed to me to have a big stage in the future. She's really into the role. At first she was an impregnable, untalking girl, and then she believed and trusted Max and his friend Rudy, whom we will talk about later. She got what she lacked from her defender - custody, fatherly feelings, understanding. There is nothing to say about the game of Thiel Schweiger himself - it is flawless! He was not a superhero who never ran out of bullets and who came out of any mess without a single injury, but played the role of a man who knew how to plan actions, hold weapons in his hands and believe his sixth sense. Max is injured, it becomes difficult for him to move, he does not stay on his feet, he has a fever, he falls into a delusional and then unconscious state, but he is cured, not without someone’s help, of course. It was very interesting to watch Max's expression as he talked about the war, how his friends died and Rudy, the only survivor, lost his legs. Another heartfelt scene filled with sadness and pity is when Max changes clothes, washes a deceased best friend and cries. I also had a tear rolling.
Separately, I want to mention Maritsa Bleibtroy, the very man who played Rudy. He's got blood in his veins. A man without legs, it would seem, should always complain about life, drink all the time, but this hero is joking, smiling, very funny. He decided to help the man who once saved him, hiding them in his cabin knowing that these people are in danger knowing that sooner or later they will be found and he, Rudy, will definitely not get well. Willpower is what the actor shows us with his play, great willpower! I believed him, I took root in this character, and it was very difficult to believe that an innocent and harmless person dies so simply, fighting for the truth.
Thiel with his inimitable taste, a plot worked out to the smallest detail, which reveals the past, characters, the reason for the actions of the heroes, good camera work, complex editing and an incomparable musical component created a picture from which it is simply impossible to break away, and after watching there is some incomprehensible, bright, kind feeling. Thank you for the opportunity to diversify my collection of good movies, because there are not enough of them now!

Usually Til Schweiger makes family comedies with unchanged happy endings. The film "Guardian Angel" stands out from this series. This is an experiment and an experiment that was successful.
The plot is extremely simple, which facilitates the task of understanding and makes the picture clear to everyone. There is no FBI, no CIA, no president to be rescued from aliens/zombies/terrorists/end of the world/creepy epidemic. Just one murder and one witness they want removed. An undeniable plus that brushes aside all unnecessary questions like "who's shooting?" Who? Why and for what? and makes even the longest shooting scenes thrilling, turning two hours of film into two minutes.
I was delighted with the allusion to "Reach out to heaven". This episode will definitely please people for whom the film "Guardian Angel" is not the first movie seen with Thiel Schweiger in the title role.
Since the picture contains the best actors and actresses of Germany (not because there is no one else to shoot, but because they are really masters of their craft), it is impossible not to mention the cast and especially Moritz Bleibtroy, who brilliantly played in this film, as in all previous ones.
We saw him in different, diametrically opposed roles. In the aforementioned "Reach out to heaven" he was a middle-level Turkish mobster, in "Solino" - an Italian, in "Run, Lola, run" - a lover and beloved, in "Experiment" - a taxi driver who got into prison, in "Sun of the Aztecs" - a teacher, in "Cleanity of the Brain" - a show. Bleibtroy managed to play even Goebbels.
In this film, he is a former soldier who has lost both legs in Afghanistan, but not a belief in himself or a loyal friendship. The image is played, lived on the screen amazing.
It is foolish to deny that Til Schweiger is an iconic figure not only in German cinema, but also in the world. Where he managed to prove himself not only the most recognizable German actor, but also an insanely talented director who knows no boundaries in genres or anything else. Whether it’s a family comedy or a harsh old-school action movie. As in this case. Naturally, this film was a complete surprise to many. Especially considering the fact that in recent years, Schweiger has always staged only family comedies. So the level of expectation was very high. The only sad thing is that in fact it was expected to see something grand, and in the end it turned out far from what we were promised initially.
Naturally, numerous action scenes with shootouts, fights, destruction and similar attributes of action films look hurried. Without superfluous fiction, violation of the laws of gravity and with maximum realism, all these scenes look pretty cool and spectacular. Especially the first action scene with a shootout in the first "shelter". Where Schweiger immediately showed that the complete destruction of the surrounding world is only welcome.
The only bad thing is that such action scenes can be counted on the fingers of one hand, and with timekeeping in more than two hours, this is not the most rational way of post-production. And atmospheric film turned out very interesting. On the one hand, a rather heavy atmosphere and a picture devoid of bright shades sets up a rather serious project. On the other hand, a certain frivolity of the picture almost completely destroys the entire conservatism of the tape. This makes it an ordinary pop corn project. Thus, the entire directorship of Schweiger boils down to the fact that everything seems to be there and everything is not bad enough, but only for the first viewing. Since if certain faults of directing are forgiven for the first time, for the second time it will not be a luxury.
Sadly, things are much worse with the script. In fact, it almost immediately becomes clear that the main source of the tape’s problems is the script. When exactly Til Schweiger as a director tried to decorate these shortcomings with all possible cinematic trinkets. On the one hand, repulses the script with a cool Boy Scout and a child who must be protected by the whole film.
So it was in Leone, in The Defender and a decent number of other tapes. That’s only if in the first tape it was given out in a more dramatic way, and in the second with a greater presentation of the spectacle, then there is neither one nor the other. In fact, the film exploits the plot already known to the viewer and does not even try to bring certain adjustments to the picture. Make the story more or less unexpected. Thus, almost from the very first frames of the tape, it is clear how all this will end, who will win, who will die, who is the enemy to whom and who is the friend to whom. Only the presence of humor is pleasing, which brings to the picture not only an element of diversity, but also the campaign of the case lyrically mocks at itself in a rather secretive form.
Teel Schweiger I have great respect. He is one of the rare representatives of people who age beautifully. Schweiger is still fresh, full of strength and this rationally affects his performance. Thus, as always, Schweiger played his role by five plus. Not forgetting about the charisma that made his character truly bright and incredibly convincing in the image of the hero of the militants with a gun in his hand. Alas, it is impossible to sing such odes to his young daughter Moon.
On the one hand, it is commendable that a father tries to help his child in business and is even willing to look after him on the other side of the screen and in one shot. On the other hand, even the big name of star parents can not overshadow the lack of talent. After all, if Will Smith’s son is forgiven a lot because of Jaden’s efforts, then in this case, the game “Moon” is just zero. On the screen you can only see a very nice girl with one expression throughout the film. Nothing more. Although the character is very complex and with decent dramatic potential. The other actors looked very secondary. Among them, only Moritz Bleibtroy stood out. Yes, and that charisma and laurels of the “main humorist” of the picture.
The musical accompaniment of the tape corresponds to the picture. Recently, the invariable composer of Schweiger’s films, Martin Todsharov, created a very not bad genre music that sounds much fresher and not trivial. Although to a greater extent, the film was decorated with stunning tracks by the bands OneRepublic and Linkin Park.

The Guardian Angel is not a bad, entertaining and interesting one-time movie. For the second time, the movie will not be interesting. The movie is not perfect in essence (alas), but quite worthy to spend more than two hours of your life on it.
Thiel Schweiger opens a new genre for himself with the project “Guardian Angel”, which before the release was bought by Hollywood to create an English-language adapted version.
Whether Schweiger can make quality movies is a question to which there is no other answer than the affirmative: box office, several times over budget, and a name that has become a brand. If the dilogies “Beauty” and “Seductor” belong to the comedy genre, then the picture “Guardian Angel” is an action drama. High-class action drama, the hallmarks of which are mind-blowing editing and a magnificent script. Atypical for European cinema scope (about half of the budget of the film was public funding) in combination with excellent stylistics give an amazing result.
It is known that Thiel Schweiger in the film is primarily concerned about the quality of the script - and here it is made qualitatively. If in most action films the characters of the characters are not prescribed, and the main emphasis is on the very action and visual side, then in the case of the Guardian Angel, everything is not so. The director finds the perfect balance - stunning plans are skillfully intertwined with the dramatic story of the characters.
If in the recent film “Impossible”, the “humanity” of the characters (and the creative impotence of the creators) was emphasized by the fact that they were torn apart, then, in contrast to this approach, Schweiger very subtly, in halftones, draws characters, showing both nobility, resilience and love, and weakness, loneliness and pain. For example, one of the characters walks around and says “you know, he never complained” (without spoilers) and you’ll realize that you’re ready to cry. The game of halftones is a rare and complex thing, in which large studios in favor of an unassuming viewer are forbidden to play.
The biggest compliment you can give a director is that he has his own style. In the case of Thiel Schweiger, this is not a compliment, but a statement of fact: camera work, which is breathtaking, ultra-complex editing and a mature color palette. All these elements create a canvas from which it is impossible to take your eyes off. Perhaps Thiel would have been a much better candidate for the post of director of “Millennium” Stig Larsson than David Fincher, who could not convey the atmosphere and character of the characters of the book.
The story of affection and care between a brave and fair man and an equally brave and noble girl (note how Thiel repeatedly, but exclusively in context, will emphasize the beautiful qualities of the main character) is a win-win option.
The main role was played by Thiel himself, who for several months took lessons from professional military instructors and as a result treats weapons as a real special purpose fighter. In the role of the ward of the main character is Luna Schweiger, whose name hints at a direct relationship with the director. The moon is very good, but the actress is not planning yet (she really liked the father's script), and it's a pity - she is very talented, and in a few years, having passed the period of baby-fat, will become a real beauty. The role assigned to Moritz Bleibtroy, one of the most talented contemporary German actors (he is, incidentally, a good friend of Schweiger), is not the biggest, but the most memorable.
The film “Guardian Angel” is already planned for production in Hollywood under the name “Guardians”, which is almost certainly an unsuccessful idea to recall at least experiments with the works of Francis Weber. Even Thiel Schweiger himself, who is still being promoted to the post of director, is unlikely to cope in a typical situation for American cinema, when the main thing is a producer, not a director.
Of course, “Guardian Angel” will not receive any awards of mass culture, critics will not pay close attention to it, because Schweiger’s name is associated with “foolish” comedies. Meanwhile, this work is good in all its attributes - it is worth watching at least to make sure that justice will always prevail, one way or another.

Apparently, Til Schweiger imagined himself a great director, inviting his talentless daughter to the main role - Luna Schweiger. Why did I decide that, you ask? It's simple. Before this boring and stupid action movie, Thiel Schweiger shot and himself starred in good films, which were remembered for their unforgettable lyrics, interesting plot twists and other movie trinkets. The director, co-writer and co-producer of this stool, the same Thiel Schweiger, who decided that you can already call relatives for the main roles, because when people hear his name, then they will run to the film immediately. But it wasn't there, I'll tell you! Personally, I cannot stand such joint family duets. Thinking herself an actress, Luna Schweiger in the frame looked simply disgusting, the role of an orphan girl, which is hunted by evil, corrupt businessmen, she spoiled with her unprofessionalism.
On the one hand, it is fun and nice to invite your relatives to the cinema, but as a director, Thiel Schweiger should have understood that his sixteen-year-old Moon, who played only episodic roles in his previous films, was here to show a good acting, since in this movie she is no longer a little girl who for a couple of minutes got into the frame of the film shot by her own father, now she is the main character of a new German film called "Guardian Angel". Since I painted this review in red, I think it is necessary to focus a lot on the weakest link in this film. I can’t believe that Thiel Schweiger made such a boring and ridiculous movie, I just don’t want to believe that he directed this swamp material. The Schweiger duo ruined an already lost and not fully thought-out film, which all the time smelled of perfumes that the French killer Leon used to smell.
The picture was driven by constant intrigue, danger, and the feeling that now someone will betray someone, which ultimately will completely change the whole decent cycle along which the main characters had to move. In addition to the fact that I did not like the film at all, I can say, and thereby move to a small column of pluses those tiny details that made this film a little clearer and brighter. It will be about the feeling that you are watching an action movie, the atmosphere of which can be presented to other directors, as an example of how air a modern action movie should breathe. This would be an even more interesting script, and instead of Schweiger’s daughter, take someone else, only then we could start talking about what is still missing this film, in order to then without hesitation throw it into the furnace of the best action films of the year. The actors are the main component in the film, without a good performance – a good film is unlikely to succeed.
In the minds of the Russian people, the Germans are a disciplined and careful people. Order is sacred to them. But the film breaks the stereotypes of past centuries.
In a prestigious Berlin hotel, an extraneous reckless girl easily walks around the kitchen, grabs cooked dishes with her hands, and then leaves greasy marks in the presidential room (12,000 euros per day!). Moreover, grabs from the table laptop of an important guest, which, in fact, created the plot. All this in the presence of a hotel employee. Such a thing in a little decent hotel of the nineteenth and even twentieth century would be unthinkable! The German police chief drinks at least a liter of whiskey per evening, and everything in front of his subordinates is also nonsense for burgher Germany of the past.
But outside the window is the twenty-first century.
The main villain of the film is a large arms dealer, in fact, so he seems to be a villain. I can’t believe that the businessman has several commando detachments at hand, which are in minute readiness, but, again, the Germans know better. More importantly, it is thanks to weapons that the positive heroes of the film manage to overcome all obstacles. Indirectly, the film confirms the words of the scoundrel – everyone should be able to defend themselves with weapons in their hands. Well, if the weapon is in the hands of a German soldier, the children of the whole world can sleep peacefully: the German soldier himself will not offend the child, and he will not allow anyone else to offend him.
A curious touch: in the film, one of the characters, crooking his lower lip, teases Stallone. But the main acting technique of the main character, a reckless girl performed by Luna Schweiger - twitching of the lower lip, and nothing more. Schweiger - the father is stunning with complete equanimity during shootings, showing neither fear nor rage. Well, to put a squad of commandos for him - it's familiar, because he fought in different parts of the world. In general, the film about the fact that the moon, read, Germany, can only be saved by sniffing gunpowder soldiers.

The double impression of the film has interesting segments to watch, but overall the film is incredibly boring.
I had the impression that the film crew was lost somewhere and the film was shot by a wedding photographer, a person with a relaxation disk and some psychologist who wrote the script.
The dynamics of shooting in the film is completely absent, but the angles of static shooting are not bad in one word slideshow well, this is understandably the photographer shoots in his own way. The musical background, in addition to the beginning and end of the film, where the wedding photographer apparently tried to share pop compositions, annoys and does not fit into the video, the series plays erratically by itself, here the person with a relaxation disk is to blame. Well, the most recent scenario, as many have already written, it is banal, in addition to this, there is also an unsuccessful implementation, nonsense on delusions, jokes are not funny, the lines are boring and here the psychologist, apparently a beginner, who wrote a bunch of meaningless scenes, for example, about milk without lactose, is to blame.
And then, when the new film crew was exhausted, it was time to edit, only the color succeeded here, it is equally dark green throughout the tape. The photographer shot slow-motion scenes, deciding to try out the capabilities of his camera, and the installer who was tired of viewing tons of rough cuts, threw fragments from the lantern, gunfights, dialogues in dialogues, not giving meaning to the correct sequence and at this time played the same disc for relaxation.
These are the impressions left of the film, I did not try to analyze it, these are real impressions after watching, the negative residue that many wrote about. And answering the question, is it worth watching - it is not worth it, except that with rewinding. Dramas can be filmed interestingly bright example of "Escape from Shawshank", which can be seen more than 1 time.
Director and screenwriter Thiel Schweiger tried in this film to combine action movie, drama and a little philosophy not the theme “he can’t live any other way”. From the first frames, when the action scene filled the screen, the action developed smoothly, but at the moment when the storyline appeared, big problems began to manifest.
The main problem of the film is the stone characters and artificially adapted scenes to the philosophy. If for his role, Thiel Schweiger can hardly smile and the whole film walks with a stone face, then Luna Schweiger has never shown at least one emotion corresponding to the plot. Where you need to gather psychologically, she roars, where you need to show emotions, she sits with a stone face. Therefore, when dramatic events occur in scenes, everything is so artificially glued together that it would be better not to introduce anything superfluous. The second part is scenes created for dialogue. Brave commandos die in packs, behave like amateurs and leave a bunch of unnecessary garbage. The deaths of people close to the main characters lead to philosophical dialogues, in which the characters of the characters should be revealed. But this does not happen in the next scene, you already know exactly how it will happen and why. Randomly empty streets at inappropriate times. Artificially arranged transport and smiling extras. You start paying attention to all the absurdities only when the film deliberately begins to seem artificial.
Undoubtedly, not everything is so terrible and at times in the film slip positive notes. But the overall impression remains depressing. It seems to be well filmed and the camera work is good, and shooting on nature in Germany. But all this does not save a very secondary sensation that remains after viewing this picture.

Apparently, after getting tired of the role of various “Beautiful” and “Seductors” that stuck to him for a long time, Thiel Schweiger decided to change his image dramatically, appearing in an unusual image of a slightly aged and beaten by life warrior. At the same time, taking up the next author's project, to which he returns every time, feeling that in the films from his acting filmography, commercial beginning takes precedence over fresh ideas. Since most of the roles in other people's films are quite passable, for example, a picture with a similar plot "Barrow jacket" released five years earlier looks only a pathetic similarity against the background of this dramatically powerful film. Thiel Schweiger himself wrote the script for the Guardian Angel. After all, the talent of the screenwriter has not let him down since the time of the cult film “Reaching out to heaven”. Knowing that the desired result can only be achieved by taking full control of the difficult filming process, Schweiger appeared in the Guardian Angel in five guises at once, namely as a director, actor, editor, screenwriter and producer. And I must say, the picture he really succeeded. My impression of the film was so strong that even after a long time I felt a powerful aftertaste from watching it. And most importantly, the picture has tragedy and depth, so unusual to this genre of action film.
In this drama there is a place for love, sadness, courage, and the action is truly sincere and honest. The picture is perfectly balanced, sad, touching moments are lightning quickly replaced by the most cruel action and drive, literally not giving a breath while watching. Remarkably matched music amplifies dramatic moments in the right places. Dialogues in his paintings are always full of vitality and optimism, and emotions are truly genuine. Truly masterful installation, emphasizes many small and invisible details. I haven’t seen such intense shooting since Hong Kong’s Coolly Boiled. Yes, this is an action movie, but with a soul and heart, able to reach out to everyone and everyone, which is very rare in our cruel cynical times. I think the picture should satisfy the expectations of any audience categories, there is action, drama, love, and life itself. After all, I want to believe that justice exists and for this it is worth fighting to the end.
As a true moviegoer, Thiel Schweiger couldn’t miss an opportunity (just as he did in “Knocking to Heaven”) to pay tribute to his favorite films. Lonelily standing in the steppe wooden house Rudy with ever-swinging in the wind creaking lantern and grazing herds is a clear reference to the Western genre. Extremely intense and violent, but very beautifully shot, the final scene of the shootout hints at the films of John Wu and Bessonne. Not without direct mention of Sylvester Stallone with his "Rambo" and "Rocky". Yes, and the name of the main character Max Fisher, was previously the character of another Anglo-German film “History is made at night”. Of course, he did not forget his famous painting “Knock on the sky”, which made him incredibly popular. Taken from there is an almost immortal quote about the sea, a hero with a no-randomly chosen name Rudy and actors Moritz Bleibtra and Ralph Herfort.
But he could not ignore his favorite German police series, especially since he recently shot one episode for this one and is going to shoot more. Therefore, the cast of the film often consists of serial actors. Many of them, for example, starred in the very popular series “Commissioner Stolberg” in Germany. Well, the famous Mickey Hardt from "The Puma" as one of the villains, it's something. Til Schweiger himself perfectly embodied the image of an experienced soldier on the screen, and the dramatic game simply cannot leave anyone indifferent. His Max Fisher is a living man, not a mindless killing machine. He knows his craft well, but it does not give him pleasure, he does not want to fight anymore. In the picture, the contrast between a defenseless girl and a courageous battle-hardened warrior played well. His young daughter Luna did a good job in her role. I was pleased with the reunion on the screen of Schweiger and Moritz Bleibtroya, in the role of a colorful, but not broken in spirit veteran.

I like Thiel Schweiger. An interesting actor who has his own style and charisma. Working hard, he tries himself in directing. By the way, he's good at that. His new work called “The Guardian Angel” is not a standard of its genre, but, nevertheless, gradually draws the viewer and does not let go. Of course, there is a lot of predictability in the picture, there are shortcomings and patterns, but, in general, it has more advantages. Recently released “The Defender”, and indeed, has similarities with the painting by Schweiger. But, the film with Jason Statham is, to a greater extent, a strong and brutal action movie, and “The Guardian Angel” is an emotional movie. Although, the shooting here is set at the proper level, the film, all the same, presses on emotions and feelings. Very much affected by the atmospheric soundtrack of the picture. The music is very well selected. Besides, the actors here are well-chosen, and I liked their performance. Thiel Schweiger played well. His hero is a wordless, reliable and strong man. Thiel conveyed all the emotions well. His character evokes respect and, at the same time, pity. He looks lonely. The actor solved it well. On the positive side, Luna Schweiger showed herself. Maybe not everyone will like her outwardly, but she played well with Thiel. Perhaps the director and performer of the main role made such a choice for good reason. With anyone else, you can play such a story as not with your daughter. I liked Moritz Bleibtroy. He looked good in his role. His character came out as one of the brightest characters in the film. I'll mark Caroline Schuh. Interesting girl. The other actors also played at the level and did not fake.
In general, this film is worth watching at least once. It can not be called the best in the filmography of Thiel Schweiger, but, he does not occupy the last place there. I highly recommend it to the fans of this actor. At the very least, you will not regret the time spent. Enjoy your visit.
Til Schweiger has long been entrenched in the cinema as a person with excellent acting skills. What else should you wish for a person who likes this craft? He’s also very passionate about directing, and I’ll tell you what he does well enough. Recall, for example, his past directorial work: "Barefoot on the pavement", "Beauty" and so on ... These films we know and love, so it is very difficult to pass by the film "The Guardian Angel".
Once again, people evaluate the film as a creation in which there is something unusual, perhaps profound meaning – no, and again no. If you dig deep into the film, think about it, then yes, there are some moral issues, social problems, but in my opinion it was done only to brighten up the action. I may be wrong, but that’s exactly what I’m thinking right now.
Speaking of actors, Thiel was pleasantly surprised. His character is Max, somewhat brutal, cold, but at the same time there is something human, kind. They are trying to show us that the war and its work did not kill everything in it. Many people, including myself, have thought that the image of Max, will be similar to the image of Lieutenant Hugo Stiglitz, from the movie Inglourious Basterds, fortunately everything went wrong. And it turned out to be two different images.
It should be noted that one of the main roles was given to his daughter – Luna Schweiger. It's a very risky move. As a rule, the participation of children in the film almost does not affect the overall picture, or only makes it worse. In our situation, I am very happy with the game of the moon. By the way, at first it is not even noticeable that this is his daughter, until you naturally read about it.
In general, it turned out to be a pretty good European action fighter, with a lot of shootouts, chases, interesting situations. Humor also did not remain on the sidelines, it was parallel with the picture, on the one hand and it is right, stupid to make a lot of humor in the film, which is in the first place drama. I would recommend this film to those who love the work of Mr. Thiel Schweiger. Do not look for deep meaning in the picture, just look. In his genre, he deserves it.
