The battle is not for life, but for death, or the triumph of justice. Wait for another movie. Two years ago, I watched it with subtitles, but I didn’t really remember the action, because I spent all the time lowering my eyes down the screen reading subtitles, and I didn’t have time to follow what was happening on the screen. And the film is very dynamic, eventful, and was recorded in my list for revision with voiceover. And about a month ago it was finally voiced, thanks to these people, and yesterday I was finally able to revise it, no longer distracted from the events taking place on the screen.
The film is very worth watching interesting and even exciting places, even though it fully corresponds to the Indian cinema shot in the 90s of the last century. A lot of cliches and cliches, sometimes you can see a light pathos, but you can not take your eyes off the film.
And even with such a stellar composition - "Gitendra" in what form and even with one hand showed all the strength and courage of his character. Chanky Pandey directly did not tire of pleasant surprise, played on 5+, like the character of his kind of simpleton-tax driver, but played very strongly. Sanjay Dutt as always on the rupture of the aorta played, his frank look and sad eyes the whole film again tore his heart apart. Juhi Chawla in the role of a village simpleton Chamki, in love with Raj, such young heroine And paired with Chanky they looked very good. Bhanupria, who played Sima, older sister Raju, in love with the character Jitendra, also perfectly fulfilled her role, such a shy simple woman who remained a widow at a very young age. She's kind of an actress. It is a pity that few of her films have been shown in our time, and even now there are not so many of her works to be found. Kiran Kumar, as always in those years, the main villain of the film, keeping the whole district at bay, played as usual well and professionally.
The film is really cool. And watching it, especially now with voiceover has become much more interesting. The story is very touching, although not new, many times shot in various variations in the 90s.
The plot revolves around the village Shanti Nagar in the heart of Mumbai, where a retired soldier who lost his arm in the war arrives Jasvant Kumar (Gitendra) to stay there and open his garage for cars. He discovers that the village is terrorized by a group of thugs who collect tribute from its residents. Jaswant stands alone against thugs, beats them and inspires its residents to finally start resisting this gang.
As much as I watch movies like this, I’m always angry. Well, almost 200 residents of the village, of which about a hundred healthy, strong, strong men, shake with fear of a bunch of thugs with knives, which, as a rule, about 12 people, and obediently pay them a daily tribute for “supposedly” protection from bandits. Although they themselves are bandits, although they call themselves the Committee of Defense. If all these guys come together and stand up against this gang, guns won't help, and nobody will ever disturb them again. Why wait for someone to protect everyone in the village? You can not only act by force, but also by cunning, catch them all single-handedly, at night, and deal with them, and the mosquito will not spoil the nose. So no, they shake with fear only when they hear their names and hide in their rooms, as soon as they appear on the territory of the village.
And Jasvant, with one hand (!) easily copes with the 12th thugs, trimming them properly, that they run in fear. He is a military man who has gone through many hot spots and is no longer afraid of anything. Later he is joined by Raju (Chanky Pandey) and they are fighting together. And when a mercenary comes to kill these two, he meets true friends who help him change. In general, the character of Sanjaya, as was often the case in those years, is a petty criminal, with whom all the criminals of Mumbai consider, because he is very clever, cunning, fearless, and strong. As always, he’s a bad guy who gets good, then bad again, and good again. Though a crook, but with a heart of gold and loving local dancer brothel Shabnam, whom he wants to marry. Shabnam and his new friends play an important role in changing cancers for the better. Actress Vinita (something similar to Madhuri Dixit) paired with Sanju looked good. I liked their couple and their love story is very touching and tragic at the same time.
The comedy factor in the film came from Juhi and Chanki, who set the pace, especially Juhi with his charming smile and burning eyes. The way they were constantly arguing with each other made them smile too. The love story of this couple is not as vividly shown as in Sanjay with Vinita, but also very pleased. Bhanupria in the role of a widow in a white sari was shown as a silent admirer Jita.
I really liked the songs, melodic and romantic. In general, the composer Anand Srivastav has always written very high-quality music for films, even for action films of the 90s.
In general, a very good film, and the three main leading actors - Gitendra, Chunky Pandey and Sanjay Dutt set the film a good pace and bring it to a high level. I highly recommend watching, especially for fans of Sanju (I watched this film from his filmography), he is here more magnificent than ever.
