Great Indian Western with Mahesh Babu. Last December (2022) I watched 5 films by Mahesh Babu. So I got on the list - "Financial pyramid", "Arjun", "Vamsi", "Heir" and "Pokkyri". And just yesterday I watched this movie "Cunning Fox". As I read in some reviews on the Internet, this is one of the early films of Mahesh, I saw it for the first time only yesterday.
The voiceover is one-voice, the image quality leaves much to be desired, but ... this is Western guys, Western. A genre long forgotten by filmmakers, so beloved by me since childhood, starting with Hollywood westerns, and ending with our Soviet ones. It was the first time I had seen a South Indian western. Before that, my favorite Indian western was a Bollywood movie with my favorite Mithun "Wanted". Eh, a real western in which Mithun is simply inimitable. And now I saw a western with Mahesh Babu.
There are such films, watching which are not enough words, to express overflowing feelings - emotions overwhelm and capture completely. I had real happiness yesterday. The plot of this film is certainly not original, it has been seen more than once, and to paint the visual beauty of the Wild West, shown in the film, there is no sense, such words have not yet been invented. Yellowish-gray tones of nature, amazing landscapes - magical sunrises and magical sunsets, all this is amazing. And to see this in an Indian film is very unusual, and at the same time very attractive. Nature is beautiful, diverse and always corresponds to the mood of the heroes. And the scenery - estates, taverns, houses, beautiful views and expanses, carts, horses - everything is imbued with the spirit of the West and perfectly harmonizes in the film. And in general, if you compare with Bollywood, the Indian South is distinguished by its simplicity and sometimes even unpretentiousness. Image saturation and visuals are often weaker.
But "Cunning fox" - is a film that the South can be proud of. I couldn't think of anything more brilliant. Whoever created this film is a genius. The viewer sees on the screen a crazy trip, which by the number of adventures, rash acts and crimes, can be equated to a whole life, or even two. A fascinating sight, everything honed almost to perfection.
The main highlight of this film, not even one, but as many as four, is of course the cast - Mahesh Babu, Rahul Dev, Bipasha Basu and Liza Ray (which I saw for the first time in this film).
Mahesh Babu (Raja) - always has the gift to charm the viewer with his character. Clever, cunning, savvy, he is not taken by bullets, knives, or even women. He doesn't want any trouble. Will, perseverance and self-confidence are the main features of his character. I'm not talking about looks. He is so beautiful in this image that it took my breath away from the scenes with his participation. These innocent-kind eyes of his ... it's something. Mahesh played very natural. He squeezes life-giving juice out of every emotional episode, especially he is chic in romantic scenes. Mahesh is shown here in all its glory. Finally, he kissed the girl with ecstasy (though not on the lips, but still amazing). What can I say, a cowboy? Bad boys can love as well as princes.
Rahul Dev. He's small, but he's chained to himself. Here he is again the main villain, and again creates complete lawlessness. A close look, incommensurable cruelty, a stone-buggy face, long curly hair to the very shoulders, almost complete absence of emotions on the face. Indifferent to everything but money and treasure, the character of Rahula is the real Evil. A shameless robber in whose heart there is no regret for any of his victims, not even his own brother. His character is completely devoid of humanity, but he caused me positive emotions, so Rahul was believable in his role. Respect. Well done.
Bipash Basu. A real beauty. For her character, a meeting with Rajah is just the limit of dreams. She is an adventurer and a crook who enthusiastically uses her beauty and youth. What could be better for frowning and robbing the most cunning thief? The heroine Bipasha has an accentuated sexual tone, which incredibly adorns the film.
Lisa Ray, you fall in love with her character, give in to her charm and can not come off. It looks like a model (although there may be a model, I don’t know anything about it). Here she is just amazing, naturally beautiful, with amazing facial expressions and charm. Moderately naive, moderately in love, moderately independent. And paired with Makhsh, they are real sweets. In general, Mahesh, with his, frankly speaking, non-playboy appearance, looks amazing with beautiful partners (this is confirmed in relation to his wife Namrata, Miss India).
Mani Sharma's music, envelops, envelops and does not let go - you fall in love with it immediately and unconditionally. Mani Sharma here gave 200%, choosing brilliant music that is perfect for all episodes.
The plot is not complicated in the narrative, an amazing game of imagination, where everything seems to be fiction, but you believe the characters completely. Adjusted to the standard of the usual Western "Cunning fox" - a special movie, which in ideal proportions contains the best incarnations of action movie, drama and western. At the same time, it is surprisingly easy to balance between comedy, romance, action crime and adventure.
It turned out unpretentious, easy and pleasant, absolutely not tensing, simple and sincere film about the Wild West. Unusual for India film - Indian flavor mixed with the color of Westerns. Persistent positive, leaving no room for disappointment. This is a movie for adults and children, adventure and entertainment, with straight-line characters and plot accents, which is able to relax a person for an entire evening, plunge into a state of euphoria and bliss. In general, an incredibly kind and cute film. To all fans of Mahesh Babu, it is necessary to watch, and all other viewers too.
