You and I share the same blood. And the first thing I want to say – “On the Wave” is one of the most motivating films about extreme sports created by the domestic team.
Great video, idea, message, because the creators speak to us in the language of the ocean.
Films about sports are always a combination of drive, will, beauty.
Here we see in addition to the outer shell philosophical content. “The philosophy of surfing is simple,” the respondents tell us in one voice from the screen, “respect the ocean, and it will show what is hidden behind the bustle of everyday life.” And they're damn right about that!
I recommend watching both beginners and pros. Well, because where else can you see in one video the fantastic stunts of Kelly Slater, the philosophical approach of SurfDiscovery school and in particular, Nikita Zamekhovsky, the formation of surf beginners, the living and real Matt George.
In general, this film is a major breakthrough in our sports documentary. I remember how 12 years ago the skate Imagination2 looked like – cool, spectacular, but the video series consisted only of tricks, there was just a lack of acquaintance with the characters who represent the domestic skateboarding – understanding their worldview, priorities, aspirations. And “On the Wave” is a real manifesto of universal human values united by the domination of the ocean.
I am glad that this is only the first part of the trilogy. I’m looking forward to the release of the second, She’s the Ocean, about nine women whose lives are somehow connected to the ocean.
There will be not only surfing, but also deep dives, Clif diving, supboard and even diving with sharks.
Inna Blokhina and Matt George thank you very much for the incredible work!
