KNOCK A year after the tragic incident with the prank on the eve of All Saints’ Day, a brother and sister move to the rural town of Carver, which hosts a festival for cutting pumpkin lamps for Halloween.
The plot of the horror film "Pumpkin" tries to follow the canons of the slasher genre, following in the footsteps of such bright representatives as: "Scream", "I Know What You Did Last Summer", "Friday the 13th", "Halloween" and others. But, despite all the efforts, the creators of the film "Pumpkin" and failed to fully reproduce the above genre on the screen.
Costume performances, masks that ward off evil spirits and carving lantern Jacks from pumpkins are mandatory attributes of any Halloween-style party. So here's an American Halloween-style party called Pumpkins was a success. The film gives the impression of student work of the director-debutant. It was as if a group of students had pulled their classmates and their parents into the filming process. As a result of such friendly gatherings in the countryside, a number of scenes were shot, united by a simple concept in the form of a youth horror film, in which there are template characters of stupid teenagers, but at the same time there is a detective intrigue with the definition of the personality of a maniac.
Despite the small budget, the film has its own atmosphere of celebration in the open air, here created the original image of a maniac carving smiles on the faces of his victims, as if they are pumpkins for Halloween and there is a good makeup.
But the positives end there. The movie is just trying to be a slasher. How such a countdown of bodies, characteristic of the genre, does not happen here. For most of the film, the maniac tries to scare the main character, mostly in visions, than to kill anyone. And most of the characters of the film not only do not feel any danger, they do not even suspect the existence of a maniac in the mask of a rotting pumpkin! Minimum murders and bloody scenes. The absence of erotic scenes and a small number of episodes, whipping up horror and a sense of mortal danger.
Light version of the slasher.
