The adaptation of the fairy-tale work of Pamela Travers to the proper appearance was expressed in the film in the concretization of details illustrating the hardships of life under capitalism: the investment activity of Mr. Banks, which led to the ruin of the family, is aggravated by the soulless penal bureaucracy of the authorities, and the happy childhood of cute girls from Cherry Street can only be hoped for in the future - in the early 80s this could not pass and a children's musical. The corresponding plot details can be ignored: the film still has a lot of magic and peaceful kindness – beauty with the play of the famous English stiffness – and a colorful ballet performance with Madame Corrie and Ser Louis – in order, as before, to be well suited to fill the quiet part of the beginning of the festive day.
Two-storey cottage life abroad with well-groomed Udovichenko, mother and housewife, late Soviet viewers were envious. Decorating the film – and later healed his life – the song about the wind that will soon change, the old wind in return, magically proved prophetic – it really suddenly changed a few years after the premiere.
