I'm watching the movie a second time. I really liked him the first time.
Now I’m looking at it with a different angle, not as a detective thriller.
The film won the prize at Cannes-2017 in the section “Special look”.
Taylor Sheridan, a well-known screenwriter of such things as Villeneuve's Murderer (2015),
“Anything at Cost” 2017 – nomination for the best screenplay “Oscar”, “Murderer 2.Against All” (2018), “Yellowstone” (2018 – TV series), “King of Tulsa” (series 2022) and finally, in 2017, a full-fledged directorial debut – “Wind River”, which in my opinion turned out very noir due to its dominant in terms of distinction and allegorical theme of whites over the Indians.
Existential western in the “snow” wrapper, giving and composition is very flexible and preserved rhythm of the storyline and at the same time excellent camera work, which took into account all the nuances of this story. Acting is impeccable. Jeremy Renner (Arrival, City of Thieves) and Elizabeth Olsen (Wanda/Vision, Love and Death) are brilliant here.
Be sure to look at this parable of universal evil and good. She brings up thoughts of Woland in The Master and Margarita: Would you not be so kind to think about the question: what would your good do if evil did not exist, and what would the earth look like if shadows disappeared from it? Shadows come from objects and people. This is the shadow of my sword. But there are shadows from trees and from living things. Do you not want to strip away the whole globe by blowing away all trees and all living things because of your fantasy of enjoying bare light?
The film has a top score.
