Born on December 20, 1940 in Bialystok, he spent his childhood and youth in Tbilisi (Georgia).
In 1958 he graduated from the Tbilisi School of Painting and in 1961 joined the Central Studio of Documentary Films in Moscow. At the CSDF, he became interested in animation, at advanced training courses he began to learn how to make drawing animation.
In 1968, he graduated from the Faculty of Industrial Aesthetics of the Moscow State Art University (formerly the Stroganov Higher Art and Industrial School)

In 1968, he graduated from the Faculty of Industrial Aesthetics of the Moscow State Art University (formerly the Stroganov Higher Art and Industrial School) with a degree in artist-designer.
In 1970, as an animated artist, he came to the central television, to the Creative Association "Ekran", where the studio "Multtelefilm" was created.
His first works as a director were musical fairy tales “Straw Bull” (1971), “Beetle is a curved slide” (1973), “Car with a Tail” (1974), “Morning Music” (1974).
Fame Anatoly Reznikov brought the cartoon “Once a cowboy, two cowboy” (a parody of a Western with the participation of Andrei Mironov, who voiced all the characters) and a series of films about the adventures of the cat Leopold scripted by Arkady Haight (for the creation of which the author group in 1985 was awarded the State Prize of the USSR).
