Agnieszka Holland was born on November 28, 1948 in Warsaw, Poland, but studied in Czechoslovakia, Prague, where she studied at FAMU under Milos Forman and Ivan Passer. She returned to Poland in 1972. As a co-director, Agnieszka debuted in 1977 with the film “Cinema Probes”, and a year later, in 1978, she wrote her first script for Andrzej Wajda, for the film “Without anesthesia”. Two years later, Agnieszka Holland shot his debut film Provincial Actors, which received a prize at the Cannes Film Festival.
