Fyodor Dunaevsky as Ivan from Karen Shakhnazarov’s film The Courier. The popularity of this film, and therefore the actor who played the main role, was very great. They even began to say that a new star was lit in the sky of domestic cinema. It did not shine for long, however. Fyodor Dunaevsky played more roles in “Dear Elena Sergeevna” and “Heaven of the Promised”, but from “Heaven...” his role was almost completely cut out, only a few frames remained – a witness at the wedding. Three or four more films with the participation of Dunaevsky were not released for various reasons. More surname Dunaevsky in the credits of domestic (and foreign too) cinema did not flash.
Fedor was born in Moscow in a professorial family. He studied at a prestigious school for children of diplomats and co-partners in the same class with Svetlana Nemolyaeva. From there, either expelled, or left himself, but in the “worker-peasant” environment he seemed bored, and in general in the 9th grade Fyodor Dunaevsky decided that he had nothing to do in school and went to a pedagogical school, and from there migrated to a medical school. “Not to go to the PTU, it’s too much.” Karen Shakhnazarov found him there. According to the generally accepted legend, Nemolyaeva, who was already known on Mosfilm, took several pictures of classmates, including Dunaevsky. Photo Fedor liked Shakhnazarov, and the guy was invited to audition.
After several years and several roles on Mosfilm, Dunaevsky leaves the country for Germany and then for Israel. No one invited him to the film studio, his actors enough. Fedor worked as a dishwasher, waiter, bartender, and in the latter, according to him, he achieved considerable success. His career in the restaurant business was interrupted by Mikhail Kazakov, inviting Fyodor to the Tel Aviv Chamber Theatre. After working there for two years, Dunaevsky leaves the theater and returns to Russia – he enters VGIK, but also leaves after three years of training. His footprints then remain on the roads of Italy, where he spent several years. Then he returned to Moscow. In one of the interviews, Dunavesky seems to have said that he would like to shoot Courier 2 – about an adult Ivan. But so far, no attempt has been made to do so. /
