Zhang Feng-gi was born on September 1, 1956 in Hunan (China). He graduated from Beijing Film School, where he studied with the current leaders of the “New Chinese Cinema” – Zhang Yimou and Chen Kaige. But, unlike his comrades, Zhang Feng-gi plays more in movies. One of the most famous films with the actor is Chen Kaige's drama "Goodbye, my concubine", which received the "Golden Palm" at the Cannes Film Festival. In 1999, Zhang Fen-gi again starred in the famous director in the historical drama “The Emperor and the Assassin”.
