Clint Mansell (née Clinton Mansell, November 7, 1962, Coventry, England) is a musician and composer, soloist and guitarist of the once-existing British band Pop Will Eat Itself. In addition, Mansell is known in the world of cinema thanks to his friend, director Darren Aronofsky, who invited him to write the music for his debut film π
The soundtrack to π was followed by the soundtrack to Darren Aranofsky’s next film, Requiem for a Dream. This music became a cult and was appreciated by many musicians. A version of Lux Aeterna, re-recorded with orchestra and choral ensemble, was used in the trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. The song was titled Requiem for a Tower and recorded specifically for the trailer (it is not included in the Requiem Dream Soundtrack or the Lord of the Rings: Two Towers soundtrack), it was edited by composers Simone Benyacar, Dan Nielsen and Veigar Margeirsson. In October 2006, Requiem for a Tower was released by Corner Stone Cues for iTunes.
