Richard P. Rubinstein is an American film and television producer who mainly worked in the horror and science fiction genres. One of the most successful of his career was a mini-series. His younger brother Donald became a composer who later wrote the soundtracks for some of Richard's films. Rubinstein began his career as an assistant on television commercials.

The filmmaker was born on June 15, 1947 in Brooklyn. His younger brother Donald became a composer who later wrote the soundtracks for some of Richard's films.
Rubinstein began his career as an assistant on television commercials. His first work as a producer he received in the early 1970s on the set of one of the TV programs, and in 1973 produced a documentary series “Winners” about American sports heroes.
In the mid-1970s, together with horror film director George A. Romero, he founded Laurel Entertainment, which produced Dawn of the Dead in 1978. In 1988, he and director and producer Aaron Spelling merged their companies into Aaron Spelling Productions, which was bought by Viacom in 1994. Rubinstein founded New Amsterdam Entertainment in 1995.
As a producer throughout his career, Richard created a number of Romero films, including Martin, Rider Knights, Kaleidoscope of Horrors and Day of the Dead. He also collaborated extensively with Stephen King, producing paintings based on his books such as Pet Cemetery.
"Langoliers" , already mentioned "Kaleidoscope of horrors" and its second part, the anthology "Tales from the dark side", which was used one of the stories of King, as well as the mini-series "Golden years" scripted by the writer and a number of others. Another direction of Rubinstein’s work is the adaptation of Frank Herbert’s books, the films Dune and Children of Dune.
