"Portishead", a musical group from the UK, performing compositions in the style of kraut rock, trip-hop, organized in 1991 by two musicians Barrow Jeff and Atley Andrian, the vocalist was Gibbons Beth.
In 1994, the debut album of the group “Dummy” was released. Two tracks, "Sour Times" and "Glory Box", are released as singles. The band's music becomes an accompaniment to
movie "Sweet Feelings" (Sugar Rush).
In 1997, the album “Portishead” was released, and the following year the concert collection “Roseland NYC Live”, created with the participation of the symphony orchestra, appeared. In the process of recording songs, the team is one of the first to use theremin (a musical instrument that produces sound using a rod antenna due to the vibration of sound frequencies), thanks to which the sound of many songs becomes quite unusual.
Since 2000, the band has been working on a new studio album with Island Records. Portishead’s official website announced that the tracks will be recorded in Australia, and fans are waiting for many pleasant surprises.
In the winter of 2005, Portishead officially presented at the Tsunami Benefit Concert in Bristol. In the same year, Jeff Barrow and Andrian Atley are producing a new album called The Invisible Invasion by The Coral.
And in the winter of 2007, Portishead musicians become curators of the All Tomorrow’s Parties festival, where they give several solo concerts and present new songs.
In the winter of 2008, the release of the next collection “Third” takes place. Its release is scheduled for April this year, but in March the compositions get online. Soon the musicians go on tour in the UK.
