After World War II, Sybilla Schmitz rarely starred in a film that focused on ease and optimism and did not feel the need for her aura of mysterious alienity. She became a drug addict and on April 13, 1955 in Munich committed suicide. In 1956, a lawsuit against her doctor took place. In 1982, based on certain circumstances of recent years, the life of the actress, Rainer Werner Fassbinder made the film “The Longing of Veronica Foss”.
