The New Saint is a film about Yevgeny Rodionov, an ordinary young Russian boy who fell in the first Chechen war after being taken prisoner and refusing to convert to Islam. He was proclaimed a martyr and many Russians found in Yevgeny their own unofficial saint. The life of Yevgeny’s mother underwent a radical change when her child ‘became’ a saint. By campaigning for his canonisation she keeps the memory of her son alive. The success of her mission is illustrated by the portrayal of Yevgeny’s image on icons throughout the country. Who is this holy soldier exactly and what makes him the perfect icon of Russia today? close

The historical drama Antonio Vivaldi tells the story of one of the most brilliant composers in history, whose fate was not easy, and the music is inexpressibly beautiful. The wonderful musical creation of the joint American-Belgian production will be a real pleasure for the musical gourmet.
Beginning
The film “Antonio Vivaldi” tells about the youth of the famous violinist, which he spent in the romantic and mysterious Venice. The hero of this story was born in the “city of rivers” – Venice, the music was in his blood even before he was born, since his father Giovania was also a violinist, and it was he who later gave his son his first lessons. Vivaldi’s father served in the church, which largely determined the future church career of the boy. He receives a sacred rank and begins service, but for frequent absenteeism, the musician is excommunicated.
A young man moves to a new place of work - he becomes a music teacher in an unusual educational institution - there are girls who were illegally born by Venetian courtesans. What will Antonio choose next? Will he give up his main passion, music?
The film was produced
Director Boris Damast shot the film “Antonio Vivaldi” in 2013 from the script, which he created together with Jeffrey Friedman. Damast gathered in the film a wonderful cast: Alfred Molina, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Sebastian Koch, Claire Foy. The film crew managed to interestingly show the fate of the musician, unfolding against the backdrop of beautiful landscapes of Venice. close

It further covers his marriages to Isabella Brandt and Hélène Fourment. close

Finland's most daring musician, the accordionist, composer, performer Kimmo Pohjonen, revolutionizes the accordion and shatters traditional musical standards. Extraordinary sounds explode from his custom built accordion and its bellows including electronic effects, accordion samples, voice, farm machines, animals and string quartet. Pohjonen bridges the gap between experimental, rock, folk and classic genres in fact creating an entirely new accordion music world. His performances are reminiscent of the violence of Roman gladiators and the castigation of medieval monks. The film is a journey of an exceptional artist grounded in basic human truths. The Cinematography and drama reveal a distinctive Scandinavian viewpoint. From the startling opening - the hero walks across an expanse of ice and drops through a hole into frigid water - right to the very end; a dramatic pace draws the viewer in, revealing the inner struggle of this iconoclast. close
