Rublyovo-Uspenskoye highway, in the common river Rublyovka, is a 30-kilometer highway leading from the Kremlin to the west of Russia. At all times, this area like a magnet attracted the ruling elite: kings, dictators, presidents. During the Soviet era, elected party bosses, scientific and cultural elite lived on Rublevka. In place of the dachas and sanatoriums of the Soviet elite came cottages and estates of current members of the government, oligarchs and deputies. Now Rublevka is the kingdom of developed capitalism. The nouveau riche villas are crowding out the last huts of indigenous people who feel "like Indians on a reservation." The film tells about the life of the inhabitants of Rublevka – representatives of different social strata of Russian society. close

The production of phones has a dark, bloody side. The main part of minerals used to produce phones is coming from the mines in the Eastern DR Congo. The Western World is buying these so-called conflict minerals and thereby finances a civil war that, according to human rights organisations, has been the bloodiest conflict since World War II: During the last 15 years the conflict has cost the lives of more than 5 million people and 300,000 women have been raped. The war will continue as long as armed groups can finance their warfare by selling minerals. The Documentary Blood in the Mobile shows the connection between our phones and the civil war in the Congo. Director Frank Poulsen travels to DR Congo to see the illegal mine industry with his own eyes. He gets access to Congo s largest tin-mine, which is being controlled by different armed groups, and where children work for days in narrow mine tunnels to dig out the minerals that end up in our phones. close

For Letter to Anna he has used images from a film he had planned to make; a film about the human rights journalist who put her life on the line through her critical writings of the Russian government. A team of mathematicians is working together on a big project. Excitement of discovery, hope and disappointment, competition and recognition are shown from an infinitely close distance. Scientists united by the idea of discretization, which, in short, means: constructing continuous objects from basic building blocks. Akin to the scientists' search for the right discretization of continuum, this film itself is composed of fragments - individual characters of different ages, temperaments and scientific approaches - which form a single continuous melody. The question of where the boundaries lie between mathematics and the lives of those who are involved in it and how much they are willing to sacrifice is as important as the search for precise scientific answers. A unique and unprecedented dive into the unknown world of mathematicians. close

Pop-philosophers of the postmodern era conducted endless conversations about styles and protested against everything that related to the culture of “hippies”, while ordinary citizens danced under Madonna, Modern Toking and Michael Jackson on huge dance floors. In the household, people gradually began to sort waste and use environmentally friendly detergents. >> In this program you will learn about the influence of the style of "punk" on the musical culture of the 80s, and its opposition to the style of "hippies", which determined the character of the decade, and also about how the total commercialization of pop music took place. We will follow the first indecisive steps of the black counterculture, expressed in the form of rap and house music, initially influenced by disco and imagine the full power of dance parties that appeared on the light in the 1990s. This is an exciting journey through the musical waves from the first playful experiments with Casio and the home computer with 64KB RAM, through synthetic pop music, which determined the sound of the decade, pre-digital technologies and the use of “samples”, which allowed the studios to repeatedly expand their arsenal of musical expressiveness. close
