The audience remembers and recognizes their favorite actors. Directors - much less often, and the surnames of writers and almost no one is interested. But “The Simpsons” is a favorite animated series of adults and children in the United States, so the name of its creator – Matt Groening – is on the radar. Matt was born in 1954 in Portland in the family of an animated artist. The boy liked to draw from infancy, and the father gladly taught his son what he knew himself. But Matt desperately did not want to study at school, so he endlessly came up with some public errands that allowed him to at least partially shirk from lessons: he made a school wall newspaper, drew comics, or even escaped from lessons to hippie rallies. It is clear that nothing good ended it could not — from school Matt flew out with a whistle. But, since he did not want to upset his parents, he immediately entered another school, which somehow “reached out”. And then he waved to Hollywood. It turned out, however, that no one is waiting for him at the Dream Factory, and living without parental care is not at all as sweet as it was thought.
Matt did not find his first job at a film studio, but at a waste treatment plant. Sometimes, if he was lucky, he was hired as a driver. However, in the evenings, he stubbornly drew comic books and came up with life stories for their heroes. He once painted rabbits and, perhaps, inspired by his main work, came up with a story for them called Life in Hell. Maybe if he had known that these rabbits would bring him first fame, he would have called the comic a different name. Apple hired Matt to illustrate brochures and draw posters. A few years later, James L. Brooks, the producer of the TV show “The Tracey Ullman Show”, invited him to make animated screensavers for the show using the same “rabbit” comic. Matt did not want to repeat himself and immediately, without leaving his seat, drew new heroes for screensavers. These characters as much as the audience liked that Matt offered a half-minute short to make a full series for half an hour. This is how the Simpsons came about.
Matt Groening's second project - an animated series
Futurama - was a big success, too. Based on his The Simpsons, Groening created a movie for the big screen, The Simpsons in the Movie. And in February 2012, The Simpsons celebrated the anniversary of the release of the five-hundredth series.
