Katowice, the night from 12 to 13 December 1981. Military units occupy strategic points of the city. Soon General Jaruzelski will announce on television the imposition of martial law. A group of policemen, beating up the workers’ guard, pulls the chairman of the Solidarity Committee of the Vujek mine out of the apartment. News of this quickly reaches the miners. At first they are surprised, but soon a spontaneous protest begins. The workers demand the abolition of martial law and the release of the chairman of the committee. Negotiations with the authorities end in fiasco. The army and police begin to storm the mine. close
