While it was long thought that his filmography had concluded with the film Life in 1993, Peleshian has now returned with a new film, simply titled La Nature, through which he once again observes the delicate cohabitation of human communities with their environment. Gathered from the internet, most of the images that compose the film are fragile, amateur-shot traces from within nature and its tremors that regularly rock these communities. Volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, and tsunamis form the film’s visual fabric, and are set against images of grandiose natural landscapes. A visual elegy, the film resolutely acknowledges the superiority of nature, with its unrelenting force, capable of transcending all human ambition. With this, the filmmaker seems to remind us that humankind will not emerge victorious from the ecological havoc that it has created. close

Pablo Picasso is one of the most striking, controversial and stunning figures in world painting. During his more than half a century of activity, Picasso turned into an almost mythical personality, he is no longer perceived as a person, but as a unique phenomenon, as an unprecedented phenomenon. The works of the last fifteen years of the artist’s work are very diverse. One can, however, highlight the Spanish source of inspiration ("Portrait of an artist, in imitation of El Greco") and elements of tavromachy (perhaps because Picasso was a passionate fan of the popular bullfight in the south of France), expressed in drawings and watercolors in the spirit of Goya (1959-1968). The feeling of dissatisfaction with his own work is marked by a series of interpretations and variations on the themes of the famous paintings “Girls on the banks of the Seine”. According to Courbet"; "Algerian women. By Delacroix"; "The Meninees. According to Velasquez"; "Breakfast on the grass. By Manet. The film tells about the last years of the life of the great artist Pablo Picasso. close

600 km north of Arkhangelsk on the shore of the White Sea is the fishing village of Shoyna. In winter there is an endless night and an icy desert, in summer there is an incessant sun and salty winds that cover the houses with sand up to the roofs. Puentes de Salud is a volunteer-run clinic that provides free medical care to undocumented immigrants in south Philadelphia. Here, doctors and nurses work for free to serve people who would otherwise fall through the cracks. Clinica de Migrantes, a potent film by Maxim Pozdorovkin, follows the workers and patients of Puentes through months of routine care and growth. Along the way, the film puts a face to the millions of people who exist on the margins of society: people displaced from their homelands, separated from their families, unfamiliar with the customs, unable to obtain health insurance and terrified to come forward to seek medical help. Along with revealing these patient stories, Clinica is also a look at the heroic doctors and nurses who work pro bono to ensure these people receive care, offering a deeply moving look at the limitless potential of humanity. close

This never-depressed elderly man has one cherished dream: to visit the place of those tragic events with his children. He manages to persuade the children, and together they go on a journey. The film focuses on their six-day journey through the "other" Europe, the same one Danny learned as a child, wandering from one concentration camp to another. The original solution for defusing the aggression of Polish football fans is their battle in the so-called cage. The fact that professional fighters are often present in hooligan fights among football fans suggests the possibility of conducting specific fights of this type as sports. Of course, they can be more extreme and unpredictable than simple competitions, but they will help solve many problems with spontaneous hooliganism of fans on the streets. Comparing street fights of football fans with fights without rules in the arena helps to perceive this idea quite loyally.
Documentary film The Cage tells the story of Polish football fans who have curious characteristics that distinguish them from Russian hyperactive fans. close

Summer 1991. The last days of the Soviet Empire. Dark clouds gathered over Moscow as the Soviet government prepared to turn back the clock of history. While the world focused on the crashing Soviet Empire, this film focuses on the people who would've been among the first to suffer repression - the women and men who have broken sexual taboos in a consummate act of liberation against a rigid, crippled world. This is a view from their vantage point, unveiling the shadow-side of Soviet culture in the wake of the revolution, where the real provocative nudity is the nakedness of the soul. close
