In Majdal Shams, the largest Druze village in Golan Heights on the Israeli-Syrian border, the Druze bride Mona is engaged to get married with Tallel, a television comedian that works in the Revolution Studios in Damascus, Syria. They have never met each other because of the occupation of the area by Israel since 1967; when Mona moves to Syria, she will lose her undefined nationality and will never be allowed to return home. Mona's father Hammed is a political activist pro-Syria that is on probation by the Israeli government. The Rabbit Is Me was made in 1965 to encourage discussion of the democratization of East German society. In it, a young student has an affair with a judge who once sentenced her brother for political reasons; she eventually confronts him with his opportunism and hypocrisy. It is a sardonic portrayal of the German Democratic Republic's judicial system and its social implications. The film was banned by officials as an anti-socialist, pessimistic and revisionist attack on the state. It henceforth lent its name to all the banned films of 1965, which became known as the "Rabbit Films." After its release in 1990, The Rabbit Is Me earned critical praise as one of the most important and courageous works ever made in East Germany. The rebellious were punished with servitude and confiscation of property. Thousands of Huguenot families, refusing to renounce their faith, left France. But there were those who stayed and fought. In southern France, despite the repression, the Protestant Highlander peasants renounced the “papal truth.” In 17 years, the situation has escalated. The king refused to make concessions. Victims to back down. Until the day they were tired of being victims, they destroyed their executioners. The center of the uprising (1702-1705) was the Sevenna mountain range on the right bank of the Rhône, in the province of Languedoc. On July 24, 1702, Esprey Seguier, Abraham Masel, Gideon Laporte and their followers killed the Catholic Archbishop François du Chel de Langlan, killed the inhabitants of the castle, burned 2 churches, destroying their priests. The camizars began to smash the Catholic churches, the houses of the clergy, the merchants and the fiscals, took away the collected taxes and the church tithes. It was not until the spring of 1705 that the government made concessions on taxation. Despite the defeat of the uprising, individual outbreaks of war continued until 1715. The remainder were called kamizars (shirts) from the Languedoc word camiso, meaning "peasant shirt," as they wore white shirts over armor during the fighting at night. . . close
