'History is always made in the middle of the night. And when it happens, you are so damned tired, that you couldn't care less,' says Robert Cooper, an EU peace negotiator whose job it is to get Serbia and Kosovo to reach an agreement about peaceful coexistence. National pride and compromise are on everyone's lips, and much is at stake: Kosovo wants to come closer to independence, the Serbs have been promised EU membership if they can reach an agreement, and the EU tries to strengthen its credibility. But how far is each party willing to go? It is the unique characters that make this fascinating film about a delicate political game so vivid and loveable. The stoic, Serbian negotiator has a great passion for rock music, his colleague from Kosovo does not want to miss out on his daily visit to the hairdresser, and Cooper himself has a closet full of ties - one for every conceivable occasion. close

Episode 1. The Roman Legionnaires of Rome.
Hadrian's Great Wall stretches for 120 km along the greenish boobs of northern Britain. This is the farthest line of defense of the Roman Empire in the north, built in 122-30 AD by decree of Hadrian, nicknamed the reasonable king. This series tells about the impossible discoveries and describes the causes and processes of the fall of the Roman Empire. Thanks to the final results of the excavations at Windoland - a Roman auxiliary fort in Hadrian's southern Wall valley - we learn of Hadrian's failed attempt to roll back reforms. It is currently included in the UNESCO Cultural Heritage List.
Episode 2. Timgad Rome Africaine – Rome of Africa
In sultry North Africa, the ruins of a huge city extend throughout the territory of modern Algeria. This is Timgad, a lost ancient Roman city that was built 2,000 years ago but abandoned and forgotten after the fall of the Roman Empire. This series tells about the advanced control systems of the Roman Empire and the goals they pursued. We also comprehensively explore the mystery of empire’s economic prosperity. Thanks to the achievements of the latest computer graphics, the program will present a full panorama of the ancient Roman city for the first time. An ancient city in North Africa, 25 km from modern Batna in Algeria. It was founded under Emperor Trajan in 100 AD. The highest flowering refers to the 2nd and 3rd centuries. In the 5th century it was destroyed by the Berbers, restored by the Byzantines and finally destroyed by the Arabs in the 7th century. Originally almost square in plan (about 360 by 330 square meters), Timgad had a strictly regular layout with identical quarters. In the ruins of Timgad, the remains of the forum, the capitol, the triumphal arch built in honor of Emperor Trajan (restored in 1900), as well as the theater, basilica, baths and residential buildings are well preserved; from Byzantine times - a square citadel with 8 towers and the remains of Christian churches. In the ruins of Timgad found many Latin inscriptions, as well as mosaics, sculpture, ornaments made of bronze. close

At the time Portugal presented a strange spectacle to the rest of Europe. D. Afonso VI, son of the fortunate D. João de Bragança, was in possession of the throne and was an insane imbecile. His wife, daughter of the Duke of Nemours and cousin of Louis XIV, dared hatch a plot to oust her husband from the throne. The king's stupidity justified the queen's bravado. Despite being master of unusual strength and having slept with his wife for a long time, she accused him of being impotent. Marie Françoise had acquired through artfulness what Afonso had lost in anger in the kingdom. She had him imprisoned ( November 1667 ) and quickly obtained a papal bull from Rome to confirm her virginity and bless her marriage to her brother-in-law Pedro. Portugal's submission for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1990. close
