1895 is a historical drama that tells the story of resistance to the Japanese invasion of Taiwan (the largest war in Taiwanese history).
In 1894, the Chinese government, to which Taiwan had belonged for centuries, ceded the island to Japan. When Japanese forces invaded the northeast coast, most officials fled to China, and it was easy for the Japanese to capture Taipei.
Resistance to the new occupation regime broke out in the country. Some of the most conscientious and patriotic citizens advocated the establishment of the Republic of Taiwan. Three young warriors, the main characters of the film “1895”, decided to unite their supporters in the army, which began to wage guerrilla warfare against the Japanese. close
