The film details the history of Poland and Europe from 1518 to 1557. On the Polish throne are the last kings of the Jagiellon dynasty. In 1518, the princess of the Italian Duchy of Bari Bona Sforza of Aragon (1494-1557) solemnly entered Krakow to become the wife of the Polish King Sigismund I (1467-1548). An energetic and ambitious Italian woman begins to rebuild the political and economic life of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth (Poland and Lithuania), feeling hidden or obvious resistance from Polish and Lithuanian politicians (tycoons, clergy, nobility) and even her husband-king. But Queen Bona has supporters (and even admirers): Marshal Kmit, Chancellor Alifio. Poland periodically enters into military conflicts with Muscovy, Turks and Tatars, leads a Thirteen-year war with the Teutonic Order for Gdansk and Pomorie, is in a state of confrontation with the German Habsburg dynasty, whose representatives rule in Spain, Austria, Prussia and are trying to seize the Italian dowry of the Polish queen. Bona's goal is to fight the Habsburgs, who intend to expel the Sforza family from Milan and Naples and are the Jagiellons' main rivals in Central Europe.
Bona dreams of giving birth to an heir to strengthen the Jagiellon dynasty. Finally the son Sigismund II Augustus (1520-1572) was born. At the age of 9, the boy became Grand Duke of Lithuania, and a year later - King of Poland. Later, in pursuit of their political goals, the Habsburgs impose a young Polish king of brides from Vienna. King Sigismund I the Old, and then Bona, fearing a secret conspiracy of neighboring states, are forced to make concessions, urging his son to agree to these marriages. After the first unsuccessful marriage, Sigismund II August leaves for Lithuania and meets the beautiful Barbara Radziwill. The stormy and dramatic romance of “Polish Romeo and Juliet” – August and Barbara – begins, which leads to their secret marriage. Sigismund Augustus demands from the Sejm (parliament) to recognize his marriage to Barbara and seeks her coronation to the Polish throne. Insulted Bona, dissatisfied with the fact that her subject becomes the queen (“Litvinka”, “girl”), leaves for Masovia (Warsaw), and then, after the third marriage of her son, to Italy (in Bari). But she still has plans to return to Poland, to Krakow, to the royal castle on Wawel. .

The television series is dedicated to the life and work of the great French composer of the XIX century Hector Berlioz, the author of the famous “Fantastic Symphony”, a bright representative of romanticism in music; an artist whose talent was much ahead of his time. The very life of Berlioz was filled with events, happy and sad, creative searches, communication with talented contemporaries, some of whom were amazed by the depth and sincerity of the composer’s music, others remembered Hector Berlioz as a “pompous comedian”. Nevertheless, Paganini called him the only worthy successor to Beethoven, and Glinka - the first composer of our (XIX) century, whose work had a great influence on Liszt, Wagner, Strauss, Bizet. Hector Louis Berlioz took care of his life by writing the famous Memoirs. However, the composer warns the reader that one should not completely believe what is written, because he himself "has a strange ability to describe the imaginary instead of the real." And the feature film The Life of Berlioz is a brilliant novel about the complex life of a romantic artist. A good opportunity to trace the creative path of the greatest genius of French music and one of the largest composers in the world. close
