The Maupassant Age. Au siècle de Maupassant: Contes et nouvelles du XIXème siècle is an original film consisting of eight films. Each film is based on a novel, story, story or play by famous French writers of the last century – Hugo, Maupassant, Balzac. These works perfectly reflect the problems of contemporary writers of philistine society, in which, nevertheless, there was a place for real feelings and sincere love.
The film is about a warm company of friends who like to get together in the evening and play cards. When a certain large amount of money accumulates, friends decide to go to Paris to spend this money with pleasure. But in the end, these plans turn into funny adventures.
About forbidden love tells the film novel “Pulp happiness”. Young and brave, agile and graceful Claire Stassen is engaged in life by teaching young nobles the ability to master the sword. One day, a passion breaks out between her and one of her students, Count de Savigny. It would be fine, but the count is married.
The main character of the third film, called “The House of a Cat Playing Ball”, is the owner of a cloth shop, Monsieur Guillaume. “Cat Playing Ball” was the name he gave the store. Monsieur Guillaume has two daughters, both married. For his assistant, the monsieur gave his eldest daughter, Virginie. She has a good heart, but can not boast of beauty. The younger, beautiful Augustine, was issued for a young aristocrat-artist. Which of these girls would be happier in marriage? After all, one of these marriages was concluded for calculation, and the second for love.
Kinonovaella "Claude Ge" tells about the life of a poor man Claude. Extreme need, inability to feed the family (wife and daughter), lack of work - all this forces an honest man to commit theft. Claude, who stole a wallet full of money, was caught, convicted and put in prison for five years. But he could not come to terms with the inhuman regime that reigned in prison and found the strength to rebel against it.
How cruel love can be... The hero of the novel “For the Night of Love” Julien has unrequited feelings for the charming Theresa. The film “Buburos” is a tragicomic story about a good-natured fatty Buburos. He likes to spend time with a beer and cards in a cafe. He is not angry with those who laugh at him behind his back and call him a “fool.” Buburosh loves people, often treats friends with strong drinks. But in a bad hour, Buburosh learns that the whisper of gossipers behind his back has given him the title of not only a “fool”, but also a “cuckold”.
The funny novel “Three Little Masses” dilutes a note of humor with a series of sad films. In the center of the story is the gourmet character Dom Balagher. On Christmas Eve, he will serve three Masses. But the man's thoughts are only occupied with the upcoming abundant dinner. As a result, he skips entire chapters in prayer. The unlucky glutton is easily the prey of Satan. close
