Unexpectedly good anime. Great was the risk of stumbling upon something overly pathetic and devoid of any adequacy, where all victories are easily given on the moral will and all the characters are “good” or “bad”. Fortunately, and to my great surprise, this is not the case at all.
It’s amazing how it’s managed to maintain a normal atmosphere throughout the series’ release from 1998 to 2014. However, the events cover a little more than a year, so it would not be possible to distort the narrative of the project managers.
All seasons look in one breath and despite the seemingly not very diverse theme, each race and opponent is very different from all previous ones. In the process, the viewer is introduced to different schools and driving techniques and types of cars. And the outcome of each race is determined by a combination of factors, not by the fact that we came together and tried.
In parallel with the races, the characters of the characters are revealed - parents, friends, girlfriends and the riders themselves. Here, too, we tried to give everyone enough airtime to distinguish them in the future, and they are selected by the end of the competition a decent company.
As a result, against the background of street racing, we are shown different ways of attitude to sports, competition, honor and dignity. If you consider that this is all – first of all, the story of the growing up of yesterday’s schoolchildren – it becomes obvious that in addition to racing in the series were able to seal a lot of things.
Some topics are described in detail in short 2-3 serial branches (Extra Stage). It also makes sense to watch if you like the series.
It is worth reading the manga and watching the adaptation in the form of three full films, which came out later.
