Exotic movie About the director Jim Jarmusch heard a lot, including negative reviews about his films from my friends, but so far not one of his films could not be seen. I finally decided to watch Coffee and Cigarettes. Probably in many ways fell for the scattering of famous actors, so as not to lose with the first film. I probably did the right thing, because this film turned out to be just a masterpiece with a minimum of action and a maximum of words. Everything I love.
The film consists of 11 novels. Some are connected, some are not, but they all share a common idea: to show that coffee and cigarettes are beautiful. Naturally, each novella has its own mini story. From comedic to dramatic, and each of them in its own exciting
What did I like about this movie? Yes, absolutely everything: acting, mini plots, excellent dialogues. It’s not a single movie where people do nothing but talk that has made me follow things so closely. [b] And really, in this movie all they do is talk. They sit, drink coffee, smoke cigarettes and talk. But it has such a strong effect that even the strangest. I love movies that put a lot of emphasis on dialogue (Pulp Fiction or Reservoir Dogs for example), but I also like to have action. But he’s not even in this movie. But in the course of the film, it didn’t bother me. The stories were so fascinating. Although, the film can be blamed for some theatricality, but, nevertheless, the director did everything perfectly.
Now in separate parts. I will tell you about two of my favorites. The most favorite episode is called "Twins". In it, the waiter tells his brother and sister his version of the story about Elvis Presley's brother. Probably the funniest, best, and funniest part of the movie. And the following story is about two singers who in the course of the development of the plot constantly flirt with each other, which pretty embarrass each other. It’s called “Somewhere in California.”
The most important part of the film is dialogue. As a fan of Quentin Tarantino, the most important thing in the film is how engaging the dialogue is. Well, in this movie, they're just superb. It saturates the whole movie. That's what he's holding on to. As I said, a certain effect of theatricality is created, but this is not even a problem.
Well, the cast: Roberto Benigni, Steve Buscemi, Bill Murray, and many other stars, not only cinema, but also pop. Naturally, in this film I liked Steve Buscemi the most. Although he appeared only for a few minutes (as well as all the actors), but the role of the waiter, telling the story of Elvis’ evil brother, played just fine. I didn't like Roberto Benigni very much. Maybe just his image in this film, but nevertheless not at all impressed.
The film is a masterpiece, in its field: laid-back, uninhibited, inactive, theatrical, based on the game of actors of cinema. Fans of Quentin Tarantino’s films, I think they should love it. And Jim Jarmusch I have already taken note of as a very talented director, and I will definitely watch his other films, including Dead Man, Outlaw, Night on Earth.
