Bad, even by the standards of a completely children's film 1981. It was for the feeble-minded orientation that I, from a very young age, had a bad attitude towards openly children's works. The animals here are painted simply in a drug-addicted style. For comparison, we have Mowgli (1967-1971) with realistic animals and Ant's Journey (1983), in which insects are depicted close to reality, while preserving behavioral features. And these are beautiful cartoons, they are not boring, realism does not interfere with the child’s perception, I remember that I loved them for that. Also in 1979 in Czechoslovakia, "Arabella" was released, a beautiful, inventive, quite expensive series about fairy-tale heroes, which even adults are not ashamed to watch.
And here... Drawn just freaks, spherical Pokémon in a vacuum. The plot is as dumb as a log. Kinzo evokes Spanish shame.
The plot engine - a good fairy froze a frog into the ice, condemning her to death. Just as a punishment for low self-esteem. Wow, that's great. The girls go looking for it to defrost, although there you can just rub your fingers and thaw, it is not magic ice, it has already been broken. Among the caterpillars there are old ones, there are those who gave birth... although even children know that caterpillars are young. The girls are trying to condemn them to death. Caterpillars, in order to turn into butterflies, need a special invitation from two snots, they themselves could not understand. The king of the clock is persuaded to stop the time for 5 minutes to have time, but more time is spent on persuasion. The firefly sits a centimeter away from the stove fire, and nothing is done to it. By the way, the cartoon was about the frog to realize its ability to evaluate water, and this ability is real, but right next to the firefly’s ability to light fire. The cartoon began with the girls forgetting their friends—maybe they ended up remembering them? But no, the authors considered it unnecessary, declaring events a dream, and who at the beginning was worried, since these characters were not there? Even as a child, when I saw this, I knew something was wrong. I didn’t know the right word then, but now I know squalor.
The only advantage of this misunderstanding is that the authors combined the film and the cartoon 7 years before Roger Rabbit. At the time, it was considered a technical breakthrough, but I can not imagine why it was necessary for the sake of such a technical innovation to make such a ridiculous plot and images, even by the standards of children.
By the way, a grim tragic fact. Gilda Manolescu, the performer of the role of Maria, after this film was not shot anywhere else, lived in Germany, in the outback, was engaged in ballet, and then the information differs. Some sources say she died in a car accident in 2009, but that seems like a sweet lie compared to what broader sources say. Anyone who wants can find it themselves, but it turned out very badly. She died at about 34.
