"Take a pencil and draw a bold line ..." A then thinner. A it turns out beautiful instead The film resembles a pencil sketch: a black and white graphite rod rustles across the paper, drawing people, the city and the sky. Black and white to the face of this film.
Like music, there's melancholy, and sadness, and post-punk motifs from Nick Cave. But, by the way, the mood when viewing the picture is completely bright.
And the movie is buzzing. It makes people think so different and so similar. It makes some interesting sound, such that after watching the film, the distant hum of water pipes from neighbors seems to be a harmonious continuation to the picture just seen.
The film is unhurried and allows you to enjoy beautiful camera work - soar into the cold fog of clouds or look at the reflection of a person's thoughts on his face, the camera leads, gently, with some respect to the viewer, which is not among the flashing of many modern "passage" paintings that beat colors and sound at attention, instead of showing and helping to see.
While writing this review, I do not forget that all impressions are just a look from my own bell tower, as well as all the sensations, thoughts, moods and conjectures that I managed to take with me after watching.
And in short, essentially without touching the plot, then:
- The film is black white.
- Music for a person unprepared, far from classics, neoclassics, ambient, Gothic and the like can seem “depressive”.
- The film is meditative. It is smooth, does not rush and does not shine with dynamics. Some people may find it boring.
- The picture gives room for imagination and thinking in a positive sense of the word.
- Yes, this picture was shot “City of Angels”, but “G.A.” and “Heaven over Berlin” are different films, though in appearance and similar to the plot. They are very different in the atmosphere.
- And of course, the above atmosphere. It's there, which is important. The movie has a mood.
Therefore, the picture from the so-called section “not for everyone”. Judge for yourself whether it will suit you personally. But if you like unusual and memorable cinema - not banal-ordinary, but also not decadent-shocking, artistic in the manner of its performance, light and a little sad in its content, then do not pass by - you will not regret.
