This is a good melodramatic comedy shot in the style of those years, sometimes not without satirical notes, grotesque, but with a traditional happy ending, with good actors familiar to Capra (he shot them in his most famous films), as they say, an amazing story similar to a fairy tale, but looks very good. A very atypical American family lives, differing from many others in the fact that each family member is doing what he likes, all this looks very extravagant, all this is controlled by an ideological inspirer in the person of Martin Vanderhof’s grandfather (Lyonel Barrymore), who at one time quit business in order to live this way. However, one girl from this family - Alice Sicamore (Jean Arthur) - still goes to the service, works as a secretary for a young Tony Kirby (James Stewart) - vice president of a large company, whose father, the president of this company Anthony Kirby St. (Edward Arnold), buys up land, one of which is the house of this family. Then the events develop in a rather traditional way - Tony and Alice fall in love, but the moment of meeting their families turns into a small disaster of local significance, then everything is mixed up and seems to be nearing collapse, but in the end everything is resolved in the best way. Of course, there is no realism there, but, in my opinion, the images are very typical of America, and they are interesting. Typical and look at the Russians, there is a dance teacher of the second sister, obsessed with ballet, Kolenkov - such a rather strange man with the manners of a "pravity lover" that does not fit very well with his occupation, having fun in this family, almost becoming a member of it, it is played by Misha Auer (real name Mikhail Unkovsky), born in Russia, but eventually grew up in America, a man of rather unusual fate, who made a successful cinematic career. The composer of the film Dmitry Temkin is also of Russian-Jewish origin, very famous in the field of film music, who has repeatedly worked with Frank Capra.
