American producer, screenwriter and director Frank Capra was born on May 18, 1897 in the small town of Bisaquino, Sicily, Italy. In 1915, Frank, having saved money, entered the California Institute of Technology. During his studies he travels a lot around the country, gets acquainted with various musical and theatrical ensembles. During World War I, Frank Capra became a military instructor. After the war, he went to work in film. Capra composes comedy tricks for the popular comedian of the time, Harry Langdon.
In 1926, Capra becomes a director and shoots his first film “The Strong Man”, which turned out to be successful, and the film company Columbia concludes a contract with him. In 1931, Capra became acquainted with the
Robert Riskin. And this creative tandem of director and screenwriter becomes a success. The first successful joint film was the film “Lady for the day”, and the next film
"It happened at night." It was released in 1934 and was a phenomenal success among the audience. It was this film starring Clark Gable and Claudet Colbert that brought Frank Capre’s first Oscar. Subsequently, Frank Capra will be awarded the prestigious film award twice, in 1937 and 1939. The director starred such famous actors as Cary Grant and Barbara Stenwick. Among the successful films of the director are “You Can’t Take It With You”, “Mr. Deeds Moves to Town”, “Wonderful Girl”.

The director continued to work in film until 1961. Later he headed the American Guild of Directors, worked on television.
Frank Capra was married twice. He had three children and his youngest son also became a director. The talented director died in his sleep on September 3, 1991 in La Kinta, California.
