When I saw this movie, I saw the following picture.
Tom walks to the chair tiredly. In one hand, he has a plate of mozzarella, because Jerry’s old teeth (and his stomach) can not cope with anything harder. The other hand rests on a crutch - instead of a knee, Tom now has a metal joint because of that stunt incident. He puts a plate of cheese on the table, tiredly sits in the chair, puts a crutch next to him, turns on their former full-length and begins to cut the cheese. Meanwhile, Jerry pulls two bottles of beer out of the fridge and goes to Tom's. Suddenly, a black cat named Jack comes in, who has appeared in the series several times. He's bringing the script for a new movie. To Tom's silent question, Jack replies:
- Tom, you understand. There are no new ideas, the attempt to continue the old ones, sticking in new characters and diluting the agenda, failed. Look what happened to the Ghostbusters, Star Wars has doubled its fees. Charlie's Angels - and that's a cock, they have the same main audience was male, and for them just did not shoot. Only the old guards take you out, you're one of the few who didn't squash.
- That's right - the old one," Tom objects, "Look at me. Where should I play? I'm barely walking, gray-haired. Jerry's so bald.
- It's okay, Tom. We'll find the actors, we'll shift the focus in their direction, we'll paint you, we'll find Jerry the wig, there won't be any killer tricks, we'll put the stunt doubles on the ones that will, again, computer graphics will save you. Bulldog, cat gang, Kitty will be.
- Get that Kitty.
- The other Kitty is her daughter. She hasn't been there yet.
Tom looks at Jerry tired. He put on his glasses and read the script.
- Tom, you understand, my grandson sells candy to finally pay off this fucking mortgage. Be a human being.
Jerry breaks away from the script and looks at Tom sympathetically:
- I understand, Tom. I get it.
Tom takes a bottle of beer:
- For the last time.
He and Jerry are crazy.
Well, I went for two reasons: Tom and Jerry (as a child) and Chloe Moretz. I like Chloe from the movie "Kick-Ass" and she played great. The actress is not shabby, does not climb into politics and is exclusively engaged in her career. And in general, a good actress. She looked pretty cute in the movie and I believed her.
Tom and Jerry. It seems that for many years they are tired of chasing each other, they do it by virtue of habit. Still pitying the cat. This time, something crazy was not done to him and in general, he resembled the character of Chloe Moretz.
Plot. For a children's film is quite good and somewhere even sweet. The lack of a pushable agenda personally pleased me. And the main theme itself is quite pleasant and sweet, a kind of full-fledged children's fairy tale.
Returned the formidable Bulldog (though in my opinion it would be better not to return), the white kitty - the object of Tom's love, the cat gang. In general, they serve as scenery, but nostalgia evoke. And the scenery is very much in place.
Of people, the characters of the second plan are somewhat exaggerated, but in general cute, especially corridor.
Humor. The kids were laughing, but I wasn't hooked. All the humour was being dragged around by Tom and Jerry, and I thought they were exhausted. We went through modern problems, but this is at the level of modern KVN, in my opinion. The guys worked their salaries, the same Tom's light in his eyes clearly went out.
Loved the ending. Just the kind of old story you need.
I don’t know if I’ll revisit it, but I personally liked it (although I would have removed some of the bulldog scenes, not mine).
