Gennady Mokhnenko, a pastor and social activist from Mariupol, became famous by patrolling the streets and forcibly taking homeless children-drug addicts to a center he founded for former street children. His Republic Pilgrim became the largest rehabilitation organization on the territories of the former USSR, and Gennady’s harsh methods made him a national hero for some and an impostor savior for others.
