The rickety clamps of the American outback I will say right away: this tape does not hesitate to promote traditional values - in particular, the importance of family and religion (I do not dare to define the current, but it is definitely Christianity). Do you think this movie is boring by definition? Not for a minute!
Uncharacteristic for television novels, the brisk heroine Jesse creates a cycle of comedy around herself, while remaining imperfect and therefore alive. Her relationships with other characters are very bright and honest: dislike is sparked with sparks no less than falling in love, and personal tragedies hidden in the corners of the room from the general cheerfulness of the characters jump out at the viewer like devils from a snuffbox.
While the jokes remain for the girl, the main character is allowed to be restrained and a little shy, which is also quite rare in such films. Also in the tape there is a pimp-mother-in-law, a straight-hearted coffee housewife and a strict guardian of morals from the parish committee - all of them easily win the audience's hearts, and help the picture to brilliantly pass the Bechdel test (although the target audience of the film is not supposed to know about this).
But this film tells not so much about the anecdotal situation of the novel of a daughter-in-law and a brother-in-law (or, referring to the legendary theme of the carnival from Bridget Jones, a girl of easy behavior and a reverend father), but about the breakups of lovers. Parting necessary or forced, expected and unexpected, and most importantly - about an attempt to come to terms with them.
Even the first scene of the film shows the heroine, already reconciled with the breakup. Jesse is already internally ready for this, all that remains is to decisively open the door to the hotel room, make sure that the reasons for the divorce are fair and inform her husband about the end of their common history. Other heroes experience an unexpected and irreparable break much deeper, and therefore longer. But each of them, including Jesse, will find his recipe for the final healing and will definitely figure out what is right for him.
