The film of Israeli director Matan Yair, which I have not heard of until today, “Forests”, 2017, is not, of course, a masterpiece, but it is very interesting even from a purely cognitive point of view. A young boy, Usher Lax, is in his senior year of school while working for his father’s small scaffolding firm. He is not distinguished by special diligence, and his father is kind of not too interested in obtaining a certificate for his son, he is much more interested in his company, he prepares his son as a successor, since he has the most serious health problems. But in school they are taught literature by such a kind of teacher, very far from the usual traditions of teaching, which, obviously, falls into the souls of even the biggest boobs, but suddenly a tragedy occurs. Asher in his own way suffers from what happened, making various rash actions because of this. We will never know how it will end, the end of the film is a series of questions that the director obviously suggests we look for ourselves. I was interested in seeing this film, Israeli society is very different from ours, and I have always been interested in ethnography.
