In Ukrainian culture, Kobza and Bandura have long coexisted naturally. In XVII-XVIII centuries. A little bit not in every Ukrainian house was a kobza. When in 1775 the Zaporozhye Sich was liquidated, all fewer Cossacks and elders played on Kobzas. But the Kobzar spiritual tradition continued to exist among the people—the blind singers resembled pro-Cossack liberties. Very high was the moral authority of these wandering philosophers-artists.
