It was an extremely interesting piece. A cruel banter that makes a mockery of both the stupid teenage outrage and attempts at moralization by the world of “adults”.
The main characters somewhat resemble the characters of Drubich from the perestroika films of Solovyov and Shakhnazarov Courier. The resemblance is not only external: as in our perestroika, these comrades simply have nowhere to go, they are strangers, even in their families, and the social game surrounding them seems utterly meaningless. Each age offers to rebel in its own way, and this time the answer is travel.
It's amazing how much you can do in a very modest screen time. Despite the abundance of long beautiful plans, time remains for the disclosure of characters, including minor ones, and to raise all sorts of questions, why and how. Many of these questions are familiar to anyone who was 17.
The soundtrack and entourage are also interesting, if not for the presence of smartphones that do not linger for a long time in the frame and narrative, then you could believe in the 80s, the main tone here, of course, is set by the used cars of the father of the main character and music from an even earlier era.
A cute black comedy that raises questions of love, psychopathy and the value of human life. The first season ends beautifully and looks like a full-fledged work.
The second season is more perceived as some kind of parallel story and very blurred resolves the social conflict with the outside world that occurs in the characters in the first season.
The resolution is, of course, quite mainstream, through reconciliation, but still. In the sequel, they did not regret to show even more mentally deformed characters.
Deserves a place in the collection, definitely. Blood, murder, motherfuckers and beautiful views of England. And at the same time offer to laugh and, at the same time, think about what is wrong.
