American film "C'mon C'mon" / 2021, directed by Mike Mills. I started watching because of Joaquin Phoenix, who I like as an actor. It turned out to be not very typical for the present time absolutely colloquial black and white film devoted to the problem of growing up, the problem of raising children, their relations with parents, the attitude of both to life, in general, ordinary life problems that people often do not think about or simply do not talk about them. The main character - radio journalist Johnny (Joaquin Phoenix) travels to American cities, interviewing advanced teenagers in which they are asked various questions about life, how they see themselves now, how they see the future, etc. One day, after arriving in Detroit, Johnny calls his sister Viv (Gaby Hoffman), with whom they have not spoken for the past year, since the death of their mother, who suffered from senile dementia, they have very different attitudes to her and in general they are very different in nature people. He finds out that her husband has left, he was offered a good job, and now everything is not going well there and needs to go and help him settle down, so Viv asks if he can look after her nine-year-old son Jesse (Woody Norman) for a few days, he agrees, although they actually do not know him well, have not seen him for a long time, and the teacher from Johnny is still one. Then the situation gets complicated, as it turns out that Viv’s husband is aggravated by his bipolar disorder and he must somehow be persuaded to go to the hospital. But Johnny has to work, he has to go to other cities, so after some hesitation, Viv agrees to Johnny take Jesse with him. Jesse is a smart boy, but with some oddities that Johnny can't and won't understand and accept, especially at first. And here we see how their relationship develops, how eventually some mutual understanding and friendship arise between them. And we see all this against the background of interviews that Johnny and his team take with other children, we see all the diversity of teenage attitudes to life, and the film uses real interviews with teenagers, and the film is dedicated to a black boy who after a while was killed as a result of some showdown in their neighborhood. Johnny records the entire history of their relationship all this time, and then sends a sound recording of Jesse and Viv, he does so that Jesse does not forget about their travels, as sometimes happens with childhood memories. I liked the film, although, of course, I will not recommend it to everyone, given its stylistic features, only to those who may be interested in it. Joaquin Phoenix is good here.
