The film features a new feminism, criticism of capitalism and condemnation of colonialism. Everything else is at the level of “honestly tried”. And if the plot from “Attributed to an extraordinary fate” to plagiarize, probably will be strong. No, it didn't work. They shot a typical European movie: with a claim to depth, but without a movie.
First of all, the director does not know how to stage. Sitting two people in front of the camera and changing the frame in the dialogue is closer to the theater than to the movie. Inserting intrusive symbols is not an achievement either. As for the content, men are worthless. Without their social privileges, they become alphonse and drunkards. It's all about women. Criticism of the rich is terrible. A better propaganda of capitalism than anything else to look for. Reports of guns being used to defend democracy around the world are depressing. Did anyone, in 2022, take seriously the criticism of the Bush administration? It's been almost 15 years. Moreover, such stories are simply misleading. For the most part, democracies use weapons to support authoritarian regimes rather than democracies.
And of course, whites are living off the exploitation of Asia. If you throw them on a deserted island, they will disappear. This idea has always been meaningless. Naturally, everyone survives well in the society in which they were formed. We live in the world we created so we don’t survive in the forests. Essentially, the film's satire boils down to an old type of joke in which a person cannot effectively live at the bottom. Like, what does a stupid person do? He goes to the store and buys milk. What does a smart man do? He goes to the barn and milks the goat for free. Such satire was offered to us with a claim to high art. Not impressive.
Although I have to admit, sometimes it's funny. But the question is: why in a teenage comedy, toilet humor is stupid, and in an author’s film – a godsend?
