From time to time, Hugh Laurie takes up directing, he does not swing at serious genres, but he still shoots something, so this time he shot a mini-series based on the novel by Agatha Christie “Why Not Evans?” / Why Didn’t They Ask Evans?, 2022. This is the second film adaptation of this novel, the first I have not seen. During a game of golf, the vicar's son Bobby Jones discovers a man on the shore of a dying man whose last words were "Why Didn't They Ask Evans?", on a cursory examination of the body, Bobby finds a photograph of a woman in his pockets and a key, apparently from a hotel room. The plot can not be called too complex, as always, several domestic murders, the investigation of which is taken by amateurs and, despite the mass of complications and dangers to which they expose themselves due to their lack of all kinds of skills, the criminals still manage to catch. I can’t say the show impressed me, but I did. Lori himself starred in it in a small role. You can watch if you like British detectives, but if you don’t look, you won’t lose much either.
