Sofia Coppola watched “Virgin suicides” (1999), the masterpiece film “Difficulties of translation” (2003) – Oscar for best original screenplay, “Marie Antoinette” (2005) with Kirsten Dunst and Judy Davis, “The Last straw” (2020) – a great film with Bill Murray. I was interested in the film because an anonymous friend of mine on this site gave a very low rating.
Of course, here is dominated by a purely female infusion of directorial techniques at Coppola, the same atmosphericity and identity as in the film Marie-Antoinette, where everyone including life and attitude were strangers, but in my opinion, in general, the film turned out because of the quality of the acting work of Kaylee Spani, here there was a long metamorphosis, the modification of the girl into an adult woman through the realities of Life.
Of course, interiors, scenery, vintage, retro cars – all perfectly designed in that era.
The film did not surpass in terms of human shell ... Baz Luhrmann’s movie “Elvis”, it is more productive at times, but for a one-time viewing it quite withstands interest in itself.
