Review of The Big Little Adventure (2023):
To begin with, I learned about Big Little Adventure last year and started expecting it because it was made by my favorite Belgian animation studio, NWAVE. I finally got to see it today and what can I say about this movie?
Big Little Adventure is a wonderful animated adventure for the whole family to watch.
The plot of the tape is quite simple, but it was great, easy and interesting. The 90-minute chronometer flew quickly, discreetly and with pleasure.
The cartoon teaches that dreams come true, the most important thing is not to give up and realize it in reality.
The jokes were funny and the characters opened up well.
With each new graphics project, Nwave studios get better and better, and in this cartoon this is clearly noticeable. I don’t want to compare the graphics of Disney or Pixar, these are better known companies, but as strange as it may sound, I would like to put Nwave next to Disney and Pixar studios for graphic quality and more. Every hair, bush, water droplet was perfectly worked out, and not only them. I also love the way New York was shown in this movie. Parks, streets, and especially the night time square were shown atmospheric, I even wanted to walk through it. In the fantasy scenes of the main character, the animation was made in 2D style, something similar was recently used by Disney in the animated film Desire.
I really liked the soundtrack and wanted to celebrate “Where Is My Mind” by Puggy, Egil Franzen, Romain Descampe and Matthew Irons. This song was perfect for what was happening on the screen, the other songs were also good and also perfect for what was happening.
As a result, Big Little Adventure is a great, kind, wonderful cartoon that is worth watching on a gray and boring evening with the family. I think the movie will appeal to both children and adults.
Before I say my assessment, I want to add something. Nwave Studios like to make references to their past cartoons and announce the next projects in new cartoons. In "Big Little Adventure" was the announcement of the next cartoon "Rabbit 2: New Adventures". This is a sequel to the 2022 cartoon, the first part was called “Rabbit and the Hamster of Darkness”. I haven’t seen this movie yet, but I will watch it when I have time. Also, after watching Big Little Adventure, I wanted to revisit the Bigfoot Jr. dilogy, and someday I’ll revisit it if I have some free time.
Well, it was quite awkward to go to the cartoon alone and sit in the hall when there were parents with children in the hall, but it was worth it!
My score is 9 out of 10 and I recommend watching this movie with the whole family.
