Shouldn't you have done that? I'm a big fan of Maestro J. Romero's original zombie apocalypse trilogy. And Night of the Living Dead, 1968, stands alone. This is a dark, chamber horror film shot for pennies, which crushes the atmosphere of horror and despair. After watching the original, I was knocked out for hours with violence and horror. Now to the remake, it would seem that the plot is not very different everything, the same house, the same characters names, but something went wrong. . . First, there is too much noise and monotonous action. Oh, my God, how many fucking windows can you clog? There's no dialogue at all, except for Ben's screaming and mentoring. The original isn’t full of events either, everything goes smoothly and suspense builds up gradually, but even in the old movie there was more variety than in here. Secondly, the heroes "initially" all went and act as stupid as possible. I don’t mind that the main character made Barbara, but how she is stupid and pathetic behaves, throwing ammunition to the right and left, trying to make a super-cool killer of everyone and everything. Her transformation looks unnatural, a person from a couple of phrases can not become a cold-blooded killer, especially if before that she was a downtrodden girl. The rest of the characters are stupid and even dumber. They fight on the ground and scream like crazy people. Third and foremost. Where's the satire on society? Where is any social overtones? Yes, at the end of the film we are shown how people fuck zombies for fun and mock the corpses of people. But to be honest, it all looks like the world is filled with cruel bastards who have no compassion or morals. In the 1968 film, people also killed zombies without remorse, but it all looked like an everyday routine, not a parade of freaks. I can praise Tom Savini for making up and designing zombies, but it would be strange if such a tough guy had a technical problem. Otherwise, I was disappointed and expected something more from the person who was directly involved in making Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead.
