The film's budget is $15 million. For science fiction, the amount is very small, close to the lower limit, so it’s good that the authors fit the budget competently – there are effects and techniques and drama. The film is really a large number of characters, which is not typical for a zombie film, and what is even more unusual - does not use the motif of a gradually dying team, the whole plot is built differently, around an armored car. In general, the film is a strong middle peasant, worked non-standard for its layer and very high quality for its budget. The truth was not without strangeness - the electric barrier became a deadly obstacle for citizens, but was made of three strained wires that could be quietly spread with a stick, throw something at them or crawl under them, in short, it does not represent any real obstacle. The city government has only one armored car and raids on it are arranged not by the military, but by volunteers - a plot-forming assumption; in theory, there should be many of them with a regular army, but then the film would not turn out like this. Cholo’s actions are incomprehensible – he is going to destroy the city from a rocket launcher, then when he is defeated, he is immediately offered to stay in an armored car, but he himself refuses, although he immediately forgives everyone, the wounded return to the stormed city in an open car, he is bitten, but he continues his way and this is only to avenge the fact that he was not given an apartment. In the end, the heroes took and just spared nomadic zombies - they say they are also looking for their place. They eat people too, Father. .
The language won’t turn to call it horror or mysticism because it’s never scary and the authors haven’t even tried to create any fear effects. The trick is that the film empathizes with zombies as much as possible, does not show them as a negative side and knocks out the right to exist for them in front of the viewer. They are given back some human qualities, admiring the fireworks, partial intelligence and the ability to use weapons - a little original, almost sweet. I was glad that in half of the scenes zombies really look like dead, like creatures of a different nature, and not as smeared in sauce oligophren (in the rest of the scenes traditional thrash in place). The film, however, lacks a clear ending, due to the fact that the whole idea was not in it, but in this empathy. In general, the move is strange and it is quite difficult to say how good the idea of noble empathy for walking corpses is, it is both plus and minus and the only thing that the film is remarkable for.
