The film is not too common genre of children's horror films. It is quite difficult for adults to watch such films - for this you must remember yourself as a child and perceive only through this prism. Cartoon villains, ridiculous allies and the greatly overestimated importance of the child in the plot are all integral features of the genre. For an adult, all this is, of course, ridiculous and completely predictable, but for a child, this film looks tense, serious and sometimes even pushing the psychological barrier.
There are obvious inconsistencies and plot absurdity.
- Why did the villain and his army have to come to school at night? Let's say there's a stone he needs, but he didn't know the coordinates until the computer gave them out on a full moon.
- A villain wants to kill a child – why? If he's five minutes from world domination, just lock the kid up somewhere for a day and then let him do what he wants.
- Dwarves say that they are not allowed to go out into the light, but they have been exposed to lights several times and nothing has been done to them.
- Their jokes are absolutely not funny and wretched even for a child viewer.
The help of the villain-imbecil towards the end looks absolutely incomprehensible - he himself carried out the order to kill the heroine, and then suddenly began to look for her, save her and died for her. That's crazy.
- The boy's father is shown as a complete idiot. He can’t help his kids, he’s a clown. Besides, he's a hen heel. I don’t believe that his first wife, an extreme girl and a TV star, could have chosen such a person.
- In the end, the boy defiantly threw into the trash his portable TV, which was a memorial to his deceased mother. Just no words.
For all this I could easily bet one, if not for one but. For a children's film, all this is in a good crayon, not sterile, the authors were not afraid of serious topics. And even the ridiculous villain in the end became much more interesting, his actions made sense. The evils of humanity were shown, perhaps even documentary footage of some kind of rebellion. Children's movies don't actually do that. Plus the authors for their courage. Also, gnome animatronic dolls are really good. So let it be 5 out of 10.
