Consumer Passion It is surprising that such a famous black anti-bourgeois comedy does not have a single response, although at one time it caused no less furor among viewers and critics than Marco Ferreri’s “The Big Devour” and “Delicates” Jean Pierre Jenet – the equally monstrously swollen appetites of modern consumer society are shown and painted even in a more blasphemous and inhumane form, with great human sacrifices and the director’s desire for violence against human nature and psyche.
However, the main characters of the film did not make experiments on themselves, but experiments on other people in the process of the film - at least, which once again proves the viciousness of human nature in relation to their own kind - in the animal world no one kills for pleasure - but this sacred right is given to man from above! The idea of creating an ideal consumer society, where it is not demand that generates supply, but just the opposite, suggests that the modern consumer society is a dead end branch of Homo sapiens, who forgot what God created him for and departed from his Creator into the dark areas of forbidden territories - leading him away from Eden - a lost paradise.
Are we stuck? Where's the exit? The authors do not give an answer to this question, thereby giving the directors of a new generation the opportunity to offer their options for breaking the deadlock for the completely descended humanity.
