"Star Factory" by Giuseppe Tornatore, 1994, starring Sergio Castellito. Burnt swindler Joe Morelli travels around Sicily, for a relatively small fee filming allegedly screen tests of everyone - he is kind of looking for talent. And ordinary unspoiled people buy into this dream, they try to either play the lines given to them, or just tell their simple stories. He without hesitation robs them until he meets a young orphan girl living in a monastery, who becomes so attached to him that he is forced to take her with him, and thanks to her, he gets back his van, stolen from him by other swindlers. But no matter how much the rope is twisted, the end will always be found, and so with him - he is exposed by the same carabiner who himself starred at him, and he goes to prison for two years. After leaving prison, he finds a girl in a madhouse, she believes that her lover Joe has died, and he has no choice but to go where his eyes look. The film was shot in a typical manner for Tornator, I can recommend it to those who like his films.
