Crazy Tarantino Race Three young girls are going, they think, to a bachelorette party at the father's house of one of these three girls. But on the way stop to have fun in some restaurant-bar. There they get drunk, and they are unobtrusively pestered by a stuntman named Mike, it would seem nothing special, but when they already go to their destination, terrible things happen, because Mike is a stuntman, so that in any situation he has a sense of security.
This was Tarantino’s last film I didn’t see, and I can now say with confidence that I’ve seen all of his films. And I can say with confidence that a pronounced thriller is not his genre. Of course, you can say that this is one of his worst films, although I liked it even more than the same Jackie Brown, but I will tell you a banal truth. Tarantino has no failures. Each of his films is special. There you go. This was his first experience in films of this genre. Most often he shot crime dramas (Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs) or action movies (Kill Bill 1, 2), but now he has directed a thriller. We can say that it was very good.
As always, at the beginning of the Tarantin films, there is a lot of talk. It's also here, about ten minutes into the movie, three girls going around and just talking about stuff. That's when I thought I could tie it all to a thriller. Turns out you can. The film develops slowly, like the rest of his typical films are built on good music, and very entertaining conversations. But when the “ghost racer” comes on the road, then the film turns into a real dynamic thriller. In many ways, this was facilitated by a very charismatic persona of the main character of the film Kurt Russell.
The film is divided into two parts. In the first he is the executioner, in the second victim. And everything develops almost on the same principle, the girls of both parts are very similar to each other, but only the latter are stronger in spirit than the first. Two completely mirrored parts developing in the same key. In words, it looks interesting, but in fact even better. And on top of that, the chic final part of the chase is probably one of the best in the movie. And as strange as it is in the film there is practically no blood, as Tarantino likes it, there are, of course, in certain moments, but in general everything looks quite decent for the average viewer. Musical accompaniment is normal, not the best, probably after Pulp Fiction Tarantino ran out of favorite songs, but normal.
In conclusion, I expect more and more new projects from Tarantino. He writes great scripts, makes great movies, but he does it slowly. Although good work does not tolerate haste. So good luck to him in his new beginnings, and this film, although not his best, but he retained his spirit even in an unusual genre for him.
