So Tim was abducted at the age of 8 or 9, an error in description or translation!? As such, one doomed attempt to escape is clearly shown. And the chain is so long that he can move freely (conditionally) around the house with it! Definitely one of the drawbacks is the slowness of the narrative, which is apparently correlated or transferred to the characters, or vice versa. Frankly speaking, I did not like the role of a teenager, a younger boy is a brighter hero. Of course, everything that happened could not but affect him, his psyche, but it is more speculation than reading. Maybe he became so from despair, from despair, from accepting that he would have to spend all the remaining days in prison, watching unpleasant things and helping to hide the traces of crimes. It's a guess again. After all, he is the central figure, he has the responsibility to elicit sympathy and tearfulness from the beholders. It was not enough for me to fight, to want to be free, not to accept the situation. There are some rudiments, extra, some phrases, details. As for genre affiliation, horror is more like a theme, a concept of what is happening, rather than being demonstrated.
