Having successfully graduated from the Academy in 1988, she made her debut in the theater and a year later received the London Drama Critics Award as the best debutante of the year for her role in the play Faith, Hope and Charity.
Her debut on television took place in 1989 in commercials, and later in the TV series Traffic. Then there were roles in TV films related to Russian themes – the role of Catherine in the mini-series “Young Catherine” in 1991 and a year later the role of Stalin’s second wife in the television film “Stalin”.
